My Life as a Seventh Day Adventist

I was eight years old and the years quickly rolled by and the year 1990 rolled in. It was a Tuesday evening in February when my father came home and said these words, moi finir boire et fumée! He had attended a crusade in the neighborhood and had received a message about heaven, hell, healthy living and about God. He persuaded the family to go and we attended the meeting the Friday and continued for four weeks. At the end of the nightly meetings and Saturday church services, my parents got married. My mom was in a light cream almost brown dress and my dad was in a greenish gold shirt and pants khaki in colour. The crusade was packed and I remember the loud screams and noises when the I do was said and the kiss.
That Sabbath when we went home in the afternoon, I recall this huge cake beautifully decorated being brought in by one of the witnesses who signed the marriage certificate. We had a small get together the following day and I really enjoyed myself, though I thought it was the end of my life. No more going to Castries on Saturdays, no more pork eating, crabs, oh the lovely tasty crabs. I hated everything about this change in my life. I remember playing sick on a Sabbath to be allowed to stay home to watch some of my favorite TV shows. I continued this behavior until I was ten years of age. Life was still seen as being a drag, but this changed when I was given the opportunity to be an Adventist Youth Secretary. It involved writing the events which took place on a Sabbath afternoon and having to report it to the church on the following Sabbaths. It gave me a reason to be at church, but as time went by, I started enjoying the programs for the youth and teens. It became a place I couldnt wait to be at the ending of the week. As the years rolled on and I got older I was blessed with being Sabbath School Leader, Treasure and Adventist Youth Assistant Leader. I loved planning programs for the week, getting people involved and the togetherness of the members. I joined the choirs according to my age group as I grew up, children, youth and adult.
It is the year 2008 and I have been functioning as the Head Adventist Youth Leader, Health Co-ordinator and an assistant Treasurer for the year. I have grown to love the church, my new belief, the food I now eat and the way my family have changed. I would never change my religion and my new faith in God now. Being an Adventist has been one of the most important highlights of my life.
