Music Review: Evolution Dolly Trauma

January 31st 2007 14:33
DT’s first Demo

DT’s first demo called The Present is Dim was out when I saw them the first time in 1999. This three song collection plus an unlisted track included: Stitch, Alastis, Placebo and Stephanie. Stitch and Placebo both start slow and smooth, but soon crescendo. Then slow until the energy is released again. Alastis opens with a heavy guitar. It is a powerhouse all the way though. It has always riled the crowds into a frenzy. Placebo has always been an audience favorite also. It was even played often on 88.9Vrock(or whatever they call the station now). But it was also in my opinion over played to the point where even the band decided to revamp it to freshen it up a bit, so it wasn’t so tired.

Match Box 20? No Just Rob Thomas

January 30th 2007 14:06
When the lead singer of a band decides to go out on their own often the sound of the new project sounds very similar. The biggest reason is the vocals. You can change bands but you cant change how you sound. Well, Rob Thomas took this one step further than I have seen. He performed songs from his first solo album mixed with some Match Box20 top hits and a few never released tracks that he thought should have been. He also performed a few 80s songs to fill out his set list.

Me and a friend (Amy) got to Blossom Music Center by 6:30 pm. I almost always run early. We went to find our initial seats in the Pavilion. About the same place I will be sitting (at first) for the NIN concert June 27. Next we took a little walk to get something to drink and a souvenir. The gear for the show wasnt too expensive really. The first performer we saw was a bubble gum pop same as most girl looking to be in her teens names Jamie. She was pretty much singing nasal the whole time. The funny thing is she either heard us or she knew what she was doing was a bit irritating. She was probably just nervous. This happened at the second stage so we were standing pretty close. A comment was made that she was playing with her hair to much. After finishing her song she said something like, Im sorry Im playing with my hair so much and its irritating.

Welcome to J. J.'s music and reviews

January 28th 2007 18:04
Here you will find music reviews and comments. Some are of bands you may have heard of like Smashing Pumpkins and Shine Down. Others are bands you may not have heard of but I believe you should take a listen to.

I have worked for MTV Online and a variety of other online and off line publications. I have collected my reviews and will post the older one's along with the newer ones. There should be a new review posted daily
