Just another ghost story Chapter 11: You give a little, you take a little, you get a little
Dean sits in a chair watching Sam toss and turn in the bed. He knows Sam must be having one hell of a nightmare, but he doesn’t want to wake him. He calls Mila.
Dean says, “Hey Mila. Sam is pretty sick over here. I’m going to stay here tonight. You just get some sleep.”
Sam says, “JESSICA!”
Mila says, “Who’s Jessica? I should come over there for Starla or she should come over here, so you can take care of Sam.”
Dean says, “No, just get some sleep. Sam is having a nightmare. I’ll talk to you in the morning.”
Dean hangs up. Sam opens his eyes. He looks around the room only seeing Dean.
Sam says, “Where is she?”
Dean says, “Are you ok Sam? Just relax. I know. Anna told me.”
Sam says, “Where is she Dean? Was she taken away because of what I did? I said I was sorry.”
Sam starts breaking down again. Dean can’t deal with his brother’s emotions so he tries to make a joke. It’s not a good one.
Dean says, “Dude, that girl’s not going anywhere. You have her so hung up on you she’s willing to do anything to help you. I’m kinda jealous. Really, I am.”
Sam says, “Where is she Dean?”
Dean says, “She went after Ruby.”
Sam says, “What? You let her go after Ruby by herself?”
Dean says, “I gave her the knife that killed Ruby before she left. And she is part Angel. She’ll be fine.”
Sam says, “I didn’t know that. That’s why she tastes so sweet.”
Dean says, “Woe, Sam. To much information. Please keep your bedroom behavior to yourself.”
Sam says, “We have to go help her Dean. What if she needs help and I’m not there. I can’t loose her again.”
Jessica walks to the diner. It’s dark out so the street lights are the only illumination. She glances in the alley where Sam said he left Ruby. Jessica wasn’t going back there. She wanted to confront Ruby in a better lit place. She walks into the diner. Candi is working the late shift.
Candi says, “We close in half an hour. Oh, say hi to Dean for me. He is such a fun wild boy.”
Candi finds it odd that Dean’s Brother’s girl walked here to use the restroom, but she shrugs it off and goes about her diner cleaning ritual. Jessica goes into the bathroom. She turns on the cold water and throws some on her face. The lights flicker. Ruby is standing behind her.
Ruby says, “So, I see you have that knife. Hurts like Hell, but Sam will bring me back. He can’t help but want what I got.”
Jessica turns around. Her eyes glow bright blue. She puts her hand out on Ruby’s forehead surprising the demon. White light illuminates the demon as Jessica kills her.
While doing this Jessica says, “I am Jessica Lee Moore an Angel of the Lord. Sam is going to be ours.”
Killing Ruby takes all her energy. She stumbles out of the bathroom. Dean pulls up just as she stumbles out the door of the diner.
Sam says, “Dean, she’s going to pass out. You have to go catch her.”
Dean gets out of the Impala. He catches her as she falls. She looks at him.
Jessica says, “Where’s Sam? Just get me to Sam.”
Dean puts her in the backseat with Sam. He calls Mila not wanting to just leave her again with no explanation. He really doesn’t know what to do with her.
Dean says, “Mila, we are rolling out tonight. Sorry about the short notice. I’ll be there in a few minutes to pick up everything and you to.”
Mila says, “Good Dean. I’ll be ready.”
Dean speeds off to the hotel. Sam and Jessica are almost passed out in the backseat. They whisper to each other trying to keep their addiction secret from Dean.
Jessica says, “I did it Sam. I killed her. You have to drink now to get stronger to feel good. I’m week, but you need mine first.”
Sam says, “Ok, I do need yours. I still feel conflicted and sick. I need to feel good.”
Sam takes his pocketknife. He makes a cut on her shoulder. He starts to feel a little better the more he drinks. He cuts his wrist so she can drink. She can still taste a bit of Ruby in his blood. It’s disgusting, but she knows he will taste good the more of her he has. Dean looks back and begins to freak out, but Anna appears to calm him.
Anna says, “Pull over Dean. Don’t watch them.”
Dean does what she says. Then he gets out of the car with her.
Dean says, “They’re freaks. Why are they doing that? I don’t understand why my brother has to do that.”
Anna says, “It’s meant to be. She is going to make him good. I don’t feel it, but she said she has made progress.”
Frustrated Dean says, “Good Sam, Evil Sam, he’s still drinking blood like a monster. But she did change him, at least before Ruby got involved. The other day he was acting kind of goofy, but he said he felt good. I thought it was just something Starla did. Well I guess it was something she did. It just wasn’t what I was thinking.”
Anna says, “So there is hope. That’s good. Bye Dean.”
Anna kisses him on the cheek and walks away disappearing in the morning mist. Dean walks back to the Impala. Without looking in the backseat he drives towards the hotel. Sam and Jessica have dosed off, but there are still traces of blood around their mouths. Dean pulls into the hotel and gets Sam and Jessica’s things first. Then he knocks on the door of the room Mila is in. He grabs his duffle.
Dean says, “Come on babe. Just leave your car here. The police are probably still after you to answer questions and have an APB out on your car. I’ll set you up with a new identity and Sam can fix some records so you can get a job as a Dr. in another state if you want.”
She follows Dean to the car. She looks in the backseat. Mila’s eyes go black. The sun is coming up.
Mila says, “What’s this in the backseat? They have blood on their mouths.”
Dean says, “They have a fetish. Let’s go.”
Mila flings Dean back away from the car with just a flip of her wrist. She opens the backdoor.
Dean says, “I slept with a demon! Sam wake up! It’s after your girl!”
Sam opens his eyes. He takes the knife from Jessica’s pocket and shoves it into the heart of the demon killing it. Dean runs over to the car. Jessica wakes up.
Dean says, “Good job Sammy. Are you two Ok?”
Sam says, “Yeah, we’re good. I’m glad you got this knife from Bobby.”
Jessica says, “What happened?”
Dean says, “Sam just killed the demon that was after you. It’s time to get out of here. Who wants to hear some tunes?”
Sam holds Jessica tightly in his arms. Dean flips on his tape. Don't Look Back" by Boston plays
