People tend to see their friends or partners as fantastic and can't see those same qualities in themselves.
For example,one will consider his friend as a 'brain', but just talking to him tonight, it sounds like he got significantly higher grades than his friend did in high school. He doesn't quite see the brain he has because she tends to compare himself against other people's strengths and doesn't compare his strengths to anyone. some people see others are amazing and see themselves as just not bad. Do you have to accept yourself first, well, no, many people don't and the world goes on. Is it better to, of course. That's why is your job as a friend, a parent, a sibling, a child, a partner to ensure that you aren't negatively affecting egos.

Fear of being rejected.
It can hurt your confidence. Sometimes it takes time to 'get over it'. Because physical pain will heal much faster and easily compared to emotional pain. It hurts when you get your heart broken and if it was a love that they had never felt before then the damage could be life long... We are all animals and the one thing is that once you find the one that you love unconditionally and that one hurts you it devastates your whole world, everything you are and everything you believe in and nature takes over after that and life is more innate and love is viewed completely different than before.
