Critic On The Latest - by Sarah 1

Is the Stella McCartney collection at Target a value for money?

March 8th 2007 04:11
How much of a saving is it by purchasing one of these garments from target? I mean paying between $50 and $200 for just one piece. It really is a spectacular range of winter clothing. Yet, i would of expected, if you were to buy any range of clothing from target that there price range would be way cheaper than this, say between $25 and $100 including this new designer collection. I mean this pricing is very much the same you would pay for designer labels like from Witchery, Cue, .... etc. I am not criticising target for them providing designer labels to us the consumer. What i am questioning is the cost e.g. paying up to $600 for one outfit from target as previewed on today tonight yesterday (wed 7th march 2007). I am not asking whether it worth spending this amount on a nice designer label outfit for this winter season. Instead i am asking whether is this new move my target to include the Stella McCarthney range, a real value for money.

Post-Release of the Collection: The Aftermath and Conclusion
Considering the reaction to this collection in target stores across Australia and the many shoppers who have spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on this range of clothing. I just realised how much of a gimmick it really was for target to get this designer collection in their stores, because they knew it would create this kind of racket-race mad reaction. People are willing to fork out alot of money to own a Stella McCartney garment no matter what the price. Including many who have now started to sell the clothing ebay for higher purchase price than in the stores. I think this really reinforces what i thought when initialy heard about this collection being made avaliable at target, that it wasnt really about value for money at all and it was more about being able to obtain a designer label whatever the cost.
