Is Orble a Porn Site?

April 25th 2009 15:48
There are some shocking photos of topless women on the Lifestyle page today.

Can somebody please remove them? I have good Christian readers who do not want to see this when they visit my blogs.

Does anyone feel the same way? Is so, please back me up!

Personally, I don't really care.

Although, I do believe there is a need to put the material under mature content category.

You can click on it while making your post, by clicking "yes" on the mature content block.

The post will still appear on Orble's homepage, but apart from showing its title, it will have to word "Mature content", to block the materail to show up on the homepage and you actually have to click on it, to see what is within it.

Apart from that, I don't really care. I mean, I am not going to post that sort of things, but I do not care too much about whether other people do so.

This site leans towards being:
anti Christian - pro atheist
anti regulation - pro anarchist
anti heterosexual - pro gay
anti life - pro abortion
anti moral compass - pro hedonist
anti community - pro self
. . . ad nauseam.

Although nude, those photos aren't porn but they definitely are adult content.

Go to the writers page, Jon appears at the top of the list.

Click on his profile and when it opens up, go to the "send message" link near the top of the page and click it.

Then provide him with the URL and maybe a photo or two for his private collection by cutting and pasting the information into the dialog box - forget sending the photos, you can't present them there.

He'll reward you with a chillingly terse reply and pin the offensive material with an adult content label.

Thanks for the information and the advice. I just don't want my readers seeing these pictures, then deciding never to visit my blogs again.

Who would blame them? "You are the company you keep," Mother says. I don't want people thinking they will see adult-type pictures on my blogs.

He may not be able to do much until Monday, I am not convinced that he checks his Orble messages during the weekend.

You've taken your stand and now it's up to him to enforce his own rules.

Perhaps it will help, I hope so as well.

Moonglow, I'm right with you there, you have a FRIEND in me, I share your concerns, but still these things keep recurring, I also protest about bad language, it doesn't actually put me at the top of the popularity list.

Good for you for making a stand, I've done my fair share in the past, I find the situation unsatisfactory, plus constant abuse of which I am advised in blogs I choose not to read for these very reasons and/or because of the atrocious abuse of the human spirit and mind.

I often question myself for staying.

There are also some here without any sense of humour, at all, and who do not appreciate the creativity and ingenuity of others, bearing in mind we can't approve of everything we see.

I am not referring to myself here but to some of the vitriolic others who accuse me of use of vitriol which I find very strange as I usually make no comments or modify my views as best I can. But as they wish to pass their opinions I feel I have equal rights to pass mine. It is a dilemma as there is a "cell" of people with similar intent who can be very abusive and seize every opportunity to say things hidden away in their unseemly content.

I wish you well in your endeavours, and always remember that Christians really are required to mingle with the less fortunate, just as Christ did. If we disappear, Christian values have no platform except amongst themselves.

By staying we do have a presence but too few are willing to "stick their necks out", about unseemly material, I don't see how some of them can possibly like it, but they appear to sit on the fence.

At least they do not engage in such practices themselves.

Good for you for making a stand.

Moonglow,

Add my icon to the list. Let them take their porno to other sites where it is welcomed, not here on orble. Agreed.

I don*t mind any denomination or faction of society and consider myself tolerant, but take the smut to where people go to view it.

Keep it off orble unless it is presented as a part of classic literature, classic art and not plain outrigth porn... although that could open a can of worms too as this argument has also raged by the ragers before, aqnd a whole heap of nude pictures turned up correctly presented as art.. . but I know the intelligent and mature can recognise the diffference and it is only the purile who would make a perverse debate out of such a post as this.

sheesh! One has to choose ones words so carefully these days least one start another furor over here too *slapping my forehead* . .

Thanks for stopping in everyone, and letting me know your opinions.

Whatever my opinion is on the photos, I have to stand up for my readers of all religions who find the material offensive. I invite people over here via links and such to read my material...might as well ask them to meet at the adult store down the street to get my latest crochet pattern.

No, Christians aren't perfect. I have fallen many times and my fellow Christians have always led me back to Jesus. Christians stand up for their fellow believers. (And, admittedly, we do sometimes try to get people to see things our/God's way. It's what Jesus wanted).

I am certain readers of all religions are offended by the pictures.

Just want to make Orble a "safe" site for visitors. My 7-year-old daughter pops in now and then when I'm posting on Orble, and I'm sure your kids do, too.

I don't see anything particularly shocking and certainly nothing pornographic about the pictures, but they should be tagged as mature content. There's nothing shameful about the human body and I would hate to see nudity censored off Orble, or anywhere else, for that matter.

And, please don't anyone say "if you don't like it here, leave"! I LOVE Orble!! It's a great site filled with interesting posts and wild opinions! I have learned so much on Orble!

I have no intention of leaving. But, would love to see a little "spring cleaning"!

It all sounds like selective tolerance to me.

Or selective Christianity. Pseudo/Quasi Christianity more like it.

"I'm highly offended at seeing porn on a site I belong to as a Christian, but I'm not leaving. I think others should leave?"

How come CHristians on Orble don't get highly offended at soft porn? Oh that's right. It's selective Christianity.

Let's tolerate everyone and anything that we don't agree with?

I'm with Lilla on this one. Let's rehash the whole Orble debate over mature content, Jon having weekends [make that weeks] off, Orble not enforcing their rules (unless they don't like someone - selective banning?). Let's start another Orble war.

No-one writes posts any more unless they're about blogging and Orble. Well why would you? No-one's interested in writing on a writing blog site.

By the way. The woman was bottomless as well, not just topless.

And I hope this isn't another Katyzzz blog in the name of the AdSense Dollar. I mean how many blogs can one woman set up?

Human sexuality shouldn't be explored in front of the children on Orble because it isn't appropriate and we've all, supposedly, read the rules and agreed to abide by them.

Do we really want to cave in to cyber anarchy?

And, what you said about katyzzz isn't accurate. But she would tell you if you asked without rancor.

BTW ~ I am already aware that I have contributed to visual pollution on Orble, but never full frontal nudity on the home page.

Why isn't there dual Orble sites:

Orble.com and Orble.adult.com or Orble.XXX.com

Comment by Damo

April 26th 2009 01:41
Not only is it a porn site.
It is a gay dating porn site
A personal attack people with porn site
A porn site that is never moderated

So much for the adult content tag.

Nevar has a good suggestion for the gods of Orble who seem to be intentionally deaf, dumb and bind when it suits them. However I will give them the correct technical advice and tell them to sub domain Orble to save confusion.

That way we can have:
porn.orble.com
xxx.orble.com
meancommentsatothers.orble.com
gaydating.orble.com
wehatereligiospeople.orble.com
adult_wink_wink.orble.com
internet_prostitution.orble.c om
we_play_favorites.orble.com
unprofessionals.orble.com

and the list can go on.

That way those that whine on about internet 'censorship' can be accommodated by having their own little pigpen to play in. They can wallow to their hearts content in the glory of their own trollspace.

Otherwise just promote Orble as a porn site and stop misleading everyone that this is a place for quality writing.

There should probably be a tag for mature content and a cut to show the pictures but I don't think Orble should ban adult oriented blogs.

Steve, buddy, there is a tag for adult blogs.

Moonglow, you're right, those darn offensive nudes are still there; I verified it three times to be sure.

I am willing to bet that the blog is a throw away, someone with a laptop, who used another IP address to post the photos and remains lurking in the shadows of Orble anonymity.

Honestly, I think the only reason it should be put under mature content, is because we should not let children see it, because children are not mature enough for those materials, Apart from that I don't really see any problem with it.

Mr. Smith, it is you I think are so clever with your originality and ingenuity and often it is very funny, so why have a shot at me about blogs and as regards money, my blogging is an absolute joke, I really would like to earn some money in the vicinity at least of my original expectations be they all so very modest and of course mega bucks would be very acceptable, but if I'm waiting for that to happen I must be an incredibly slow learner, slong with many others, I suspect. I blog about what I perceive is of value with the odd flight to capture and enjoy what little humour is on offer.

So please Mr. Smith, no more digs.

Don't regard kindness as stupidity.

Moonglow,

I certainly agree with you! I'm all for people posting things that they find interesting, or that they're passionate about; that said, I feel all bloggers need to be respectful of the network as a whole, and that means having the maturity as a writer to label things as 'Mature Content' when they meet the criteria as set by Orble.

There are a couple of people whom have contributed to this post supporting you, yet if you review their old posts you will find an emporium of smut, sexually suggestive and nauseating images.

Apart from the visual aspect, I believe writers should be tagging certain posts as 'Mature Content' simply due to the lewd, provocative and explicit nature of the writting.

I hope your call to lift the moral standards of Orble doesn't fall on deaf ears Moonglow.
