Is Darren Aronofsky set to 'rebuild' ROBOCOP?

So Robocop is being ‘rebuilt’ (MGM’s term not mine) and word is that Darren Aronofsky has been in talks to direct.
Now Aronofsky is a brilliant filmmaker and could bring a certain visual edge to the remake but I just don’t see the studios going for it. They will want Robocop to be an action blockbuster without the blood and satire of the original and I’m not saying that he could not deliver this, he just wouldn’t be my first choice. Although my choice would be NOT TO REMAKE EVERY DAMN THING! Sorry about that.
That being said it’s still early days and Aronofsky does have the two films The Fighter and The Wrestler on his plate at the moment so this may not come to pass but one thing is for sure in 2010 we will see the Robocop remake, oh sorry ‘rebuild’.
