Is adoption starting to become a celebrity fad?

Is celebrity adoption too much of a fad?

Following Angelina Jolie apparently adopting a three and a half year old Vietnamese child to go along with her two other adopted children and her biological child, Madonna's controversial adoption of David Banda from Malawi and announcewments from a string of celebrities saying they would like to adopt children (Celebrities of the like of Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears)

I can't help but wonder if adopting an orphaned child is becoming to much of a handbag thing now for some of these celebrities and even worse, governments are making it easier for them just because they are celebrities and have massive amounts money while any person who might not be celebrity and not have millions but still capable of providing a loving home for the child have to go through tonnes of red tape just to adopt a child (I know people who have tried but because of the red tape, have quit halfway through the process)
While what Ms Jolie has done is an honourable thing, I just hope that these children are being adopted in the right way, not just to be a new toy for some rich celebrity to hang off their arm.
