Interesting Times
May 26th 2009 03:23
Good or bad, like it or not, you have to admit, these are interesting times we are living in. I have used the analogy that we are teetering over the edge of a cliff for sometime now. I do still feel that way, but for may more reasons it seems. The economy has crashed in a pretty dramtic fashion, but it now appears that is only one part of a much larger picture.
At the same time we have a war being fought on 2 fronts. There are now some serious developments in both the middle east and Asia. North Korea testing an atomic bomb as well as a short range missle yesterday has to raise serious concerns. For the US right now we don't have the kind of leverage we once did. We are so far in debt with countries like China that it becomes almost impossible to strong arm them into supporting us.
At the same time we have Iran flexing it's muscles by sending 6 warships into international waters to show it can defend and protect the country. While all this is going on, have no fear, the UN is poised to take action. That's a laugh. Can someone tell me when the last time was when the UN actually did anything productive. Perhaps the UN should be hosted in another country. I am quite sure they would thoroughly enjoy spending their time in one of the many dictorial countries they seem to embrace.
