Irena Sendler was a remarkable, heroic polish woman that saved so many lives from the disposal of Hitler and his troops.
Irena was a woman that lived in Warsaw during World War 2, working as a social worker. Although she worked hard to bring salvation to the Jewish ghettos during the initial stages of HItlers reign, Irena felt that there was more that she could do to help this families.
Rapidly Jews started to disappear from the ghettos in mass numbers, so Irena took desperate measures to save the children of the ghetto. Irena organised to relocate 2500 Jewish children into Polish families. She smuggled these small children out of the ghettos by posing as a nurse. She orgainsed with a priest to give these children new identity cards stating that they were christian, taught them christian prayers and how to speak polish.
She risked her own life for those of the Jewish children. An amazing woman, who has not been properly recognised for her courage and determination.
