Does that endeavor ease your innate feeling of self impotence
Does it help quell the anger
Dissipate the powerlessness
you’ve felt since your childhood beatings
Does it feel good to be the abuser
Rather than the abused
An incarnation of dear old dad
You look like him
Inside and out.
You’ve turned it all around
The little boy who cried inside
Examining his bruises
Now inflicts them upon others
The boy who was locked in the closet
In the dark
Not knowing why
Has risen
or rather fallen
To the depths of his torturer
That bankrupted little boy
is now a man
In word only
You suck the light out of people
by peddling to their dark addictions
Do you feel like God
When they come to you
Shaking for a fix
You can take away their pain
for a price
Sell them the key
that will make it all go away
Lock them in the closet
of their desperation
Feed their demons
and fuel their destruction
With your white “gold”
Lock them in and take away the key
Line your pockets with the money of desperation and pain
Help them sell their soul
The master has the key
And he’s locking them all in
Beating them up with his trade
So that they will cry in the closet
and cower in the corner
like you did
Then they’ll be locked in a coffin
For eternity
But you can buy a boat
And spend the summer at your vacation home
Both keys bought with their pain
Can you sense all the ghosts of lost souls there
Crying in the closet
Cowering in the corners
You hold all the keys now
If only you held the key to your soul
And could unlock the door to your discontent…
But you are still that little boy

Cowering in the corner
Blocking the blows
Examining the bruises
