Initiate a Link Building Plan for Your Site

Why are links from other sites so important? Because search engines say they are. One of the criteria search engine bots determine is how many links your site has. In addition, how relevant they are. The more relevant the link, the higher value it has. If you have the most relevant links for a category or topic, the search engines will give your site a higher ranking. If your site has a high ranking, it will become more popular. The more popular your site is, the more successful it will be. And so on and so on.
So Where Do You Start?
Following are some quick tips to help you get started on your link-building plan:
• Be sure you have quality content throughout your site. Quality content becomes something called “link bait”. In other words, if your content is relevant people will link to it.
• Make a list of the keyword phrases you want to rank the highest. Your link text should include these keyword phrases. If you have multiple links using the same keyword phrase, the search engines will associate your site with those keywords and your site should start ranking higher with them.
How Do You Get these Keyword Rich Links?
Contact the companies you do business with and request a link. Colleagues and friends are good sources also. Just remember that the link is worthless if it not relevant. When you request a link, you will need to tell them what keywords to use. If necessary, supply them with the code they can cut and paste into their site.
Posting on forums or blogs is another excellent way to get links. Be sure your signature includes a link back to your site.
You can also write relevant articles for online distribution. These articles contain a link back to your site. When people publish your article you will have another link!
Because inbound links are an important part of your sites marketing, they will pay off with huge dividends. So now is the time to start focusing on link building!
