Infinite Realities vii - Finite Contains Infinite

November 19th 2007 10:24
Can infinite realities contain finite ones? Can finite realities contain infinite ones? Going back to the problem previously approached of the snap-frozen counting of the grains of sand in a beach, we could now see it in a dynamic fashion.

We acknowledged before that the number of grains of sand in a beach is unknown, not infinite, and countable provided you could determine the beach’s borders. Seen as a living entity, though, with the tides and the constant movement of sea waves, as we know, grains of sand break down in certain areas and consolidate in others. So, if observed within a large time frame, we could fairly say that the number of grains of sand in that living beach were infinite and in constant mutation.

If we think of the entire Earth’s sand grains and ever-changing life, which we must conclude is infinite in number, we can also realise something interesting: which is that a finite entity – the Earth – encapsulates many infinite realities – grains of sand or whatever. A finite reality contains an infinite reality. Something which I find amazing.

What’s more, if we have the chance of travelling in a fast spacecraft and go away from our Earth we will then see that it is itself encapsulated by a greater entity which is our galaxy, the Milky Way. From this vantage point we can see the one entity – the galaxy, with all its gravitational pull and such – encapsulating a probable infinite number of other entities – planets, stars, etc.

If we move even farther away in our spacecraft we might consider the number of galaxies that exist in some part of the Universe and realise that the same phenomena of finite containing infinite goes on everywhere. One could fairly ask: what encapsulates our Universe?

If you realise, this phenomena is fractalism. Fractal realities encapsulate infinite realities within finite ones which then go on to become infinite in number and get encapsulated themselves in a greater finite. You can zoom in and out of them.
