Unless you have experienced a situation where there is famine, you pretty much take for granted the fact that food is abundant and readily available. This entry goes great with this! A co-worker commented that even if he was starving to death, he would never eat something disgusting. I beg to differ...
When true starvation sets in, man will eat rocks and poison just to kill the hunger pains.
Let's go by some WW2 stories on the European continent. There were ways for starving scavangers to find food. People who locked themselves inside had food. Horses are actually edible as are rats and cats and dogs. Berries and leaves supply nourishment unless they are poisonous.
In regards to global warming we forget the deep freezes and killer frosts of the 1800s that led to worldwide famine!
People today are too lax in their survival skills and don't know how to return to basics if the inevitable strikes.
If we ever are hit by worldwide famine here are things to consider:
The birds lead to food and sound the alarm when a bigger predator approaches.
If you can't catch the prey, wait until it is your turn on the pecking order...or fight a bear!
Herbs are easy unless you enter a herbivore's territory.
If you have a gun, watch for those who hide behind a fortress!
Those that starve have no morals and are driven by instinct to survive!
