Indiana shocks top-ranked Kentucky

A last second three-pointer from Christian Watford propelled Indiana to a 73-72 victory over Kentucky. The Hoosiers were ahead most of the way, but gave the lead up in the final minute to Kentucky. A missed free throw from Doron Lamb opened the door for the Hoosiers who without a timeout ran down court. Verdell Jones took the ball just inside the three-point line then dished it out to Watford who drained the shot.
Indiana with the win improved to 9-0, while Kentucky fell to 8-1. The top two teams have lost today, opening the door for a new number one ranked team in college basketball.
Both teams traded baskets for most of the first half, before Indiana suddenly erupted on a 9-0 run keyed by Watford who knocked down a couple of three pointers. Kentucky finished the half on a 7-0 run, cutting the lead back to one point at halftime.
Will Sheey hit a three-pointer pushing the Hoosiers lead to 10 points, early in the second half. A cold spell brought Kentucky within one point, after Indiana went almost five minutes without a field goal. Darius Miller dunked the ball, pushing the Wildcats to a one point lead, just over two minutes left. Watford gave Indiana back the lead, one minute later, Marquis Teague quickly gave the Wildcats the lead back, leading to the wild end.
Watford lead all scorers with 20 points. Marcus Kidd-Gilchrist scored 18 points for the Wildcats in the loss.
