Increase your AdSense earnings
March 21st 2007 03:25
Here in the Orble labs, after months of intensive research
, we have developed a blog layout which increases your earnings from AdSense by anything from 20% to 100%. The average improvement is around 75%.
Basically it removes the ad banner from across the top of the blog and places the ads within the text of each post. This format won't be for everyone, however most popular blogs and news sites now use a similar layout.
To choose this format click on the Modify link for your blog, scroll down to Choose a Format for your Blog and choose the Ads in Text option.
Ads will then be automatically placed within the text of each post, usually between two paragraphs.
If you want to manually select where the ads should be shown put the tag ADVERT (with square brackets around it) in the text of your post at the point where you would like the ads to appear.
At the moment if the post is long enough, up to two ads can be placed in each post. For best performance place the first ad a few paragraphs from the top, and the second post about 4 or 5 paragraphs further down. Directly underneath pictures also seems to work well.
As always post any questions below.

Sounds good to me. Will try it, before fiddling around too much with placements.

You can generally improve things with the ADVERT tag though.
Also, the ADVERT tag only works with the "Ads in Text" format for the moment. I guess this could be changed.

thanks for the info... but between the text?
Oh Come on...
it's bad enough at the end of the post, as it is...otherwise I agree with Filmpeeker, to be able to use the tag without "in Text" mode is optimal.
Appreciate the effort,
Lilla ...
PS still waiting for an independant Environmental Category?

Cibby -- I could add wide ads like that as another format option. Perhaps a SMALLADVERT tag as well. You may be better off sticking with the old format though.
Lilla -- You don't have to use the format
Using the ADVERT tag without the "Ads in Text" format is a good idea. I'll let everyone know when it's working.

From my dealings with google ads (like the mafia almost) I know there are a variety of shapes and sizes available per advert which helps line them up with text and stuff, the 468*60 ads are exceptionally flexible.
So perhaps we can have advert1 advert2 each with different dimensions.

Can you have some posts with ads in text and some posts with it in the banner? Or is that just too much clicking?

btw, the new formatting is kind of helping actually, I am getting two clicks from it now instead of just one.

Now I have the answers in hand Oh Wise One.
I agree it looks ugly as well but as it's been running a little while like this with me not having a clue so far we'll see what sort of difference, if any, it makes. ; )

Again to stress that this format will not be for everyone. You do not have to use it if you don't want to.

However that is only possible if it looks good, and there are ways to make it look good. Like have the option to wider ads that don't seem weird in short posts etc (like Cib said)... A [SMALLAD]-tag would be perfect.
I know you're working in full speed and appreciate what I see.
Good luck,

I say get on the AdSense bandwagon, because in the last month or so, my stats are going through the roof. I have never been consistently in the TOP 10 Google writers until the past fortnight, and I can tell you that I am forming a nice little Google kitty in my account - to be precise, my stats for the month to date stand at
22,908 page impressions
415 clicks
for a final total of over $200.00 - thats since I signed up in late January - not bad for a hobby!
Just wondering, is this a AUD value or a US value - I am being greedy here, hoping that my total figure will be converted to AUD!!
Cheers,
StephenP

All google figures are in USD, I believe, so you're actually sitting on ~ $240.. google will now direct deposit into your australian bank account, too..

Not sure which posts are attracting the most hits, but Friday, saturday and Sunday have been my biggets days - obviously being footy season!
As I no longer work for the Titans, and the fat that they dont place match reports on their website until 2 days after the game, I have being placing links in the Titans forums for members to read the match reports - when I was working for them, I was finding that my blog would have reports on the ne before most of the other big media companies - AAP, Fox Sports, Sportal, NRL.com.
Maybe this could be the increase in traffic, but I have a pretty high ranking with Google too!
Cheers,
StephenP

90% is 90%. For you it might be cents for others dollars.
I look forward to be able to use the ADVERT-tag independently though.

for the last couple of weeks when I make a post I've noticed that extra gaps appear between paragraphs... are these for the ads to go in? I only just realised that this is what these gaps could be for... I've been deleting these gaps after previewing my posts because they just seemed to be gaps.
Anyway, if it has nothing to do with adsense, is there anyway to fix it so these gaps don't keep randomly appearing?

I have chosen 'Single Column Right - ads in text' in my Blog Format settings, but still i can't see any ads in the body of my posts.
I also tried inserting [ADVERT] into the body text of the post but it still didn't show up any ads.
My blog at: www.storiesofwisdom.com
Can anyone explain why? Any troubleshooting?
(And of course my Adsense i suppose is working right, it has been generating me some cash for months from my blog there)
