If You Are What You Eat, What Are You When It's Cloned Meat?
January 16th 2008 18:52
Okay, so I’m watching the news last night, and I see that the meat of cloned animals may be found in grocery store meat sections all over America in the near future. I don’t know about you, but I am partial to animals that have actually been born – the normal way. It seems that our nation is getting more stupid by the minute. Just because we have the ability to clone animals as the result of some oversized science project does not mean that we have to take it as far as eating them. How are we to benefit from that? We can’t get a gallon of gas back down to less than $2.00, but we have scientists – who no doubt have ridiculously large salaries – fooling around in laboratories making their own life forms? You have got to be kidding me. When you think about it, the whole thing is really unbelievable.
What is even more unbelievable is the fact that the Food & Drug Administration is not going to require any additional or special labeling for cloned meats; so basically, it is the luck of the draw. For ages, we have been saying “You Are What You Eat”. If you eat cloned meat, can someone please tell me what you are?

Books Are For Losers
Not the most persuasive point of view.
And of course, your position is standing in the way of development of scientific methods for producing meat through cloning which was never alive (ie. growing a rump steak in a axlotl tank), thereby removing the ethical dilemma of whether it is ok to kill animals to eat them!
Basically, you're an idiot.

Pat,
In posting to a blog, I wasn’t aware that there was a point that necessarily had to be made. If you look up the definition of blog, that might help you to understand what I mean. I have the right to state my feelings and express myself on my blog just as millions of other people do daily. It is not my goal to persuade anyone; this is not a persuasive essay. In addition, the last time I checked, my position didn’t stop the development of any scientific methods. If I had that much power, this country would be a lot different.
While I can appreciate your taking the time to post a comment, what I can not appreciate is your stating that I am an idiot. You don’t know me…actually, you really don’t know anything about me except for what I post on my blogs; therefore, you are making an assumption about my character based simply on my feelings about eating cloned meat. Although I could stoop to name calling as you have, I will refrain from doing so. I thought that blogging was all in good fun for most people; apparently, it means much more to you…my apologies. I will try to keep your feelings in mind the next time I post.
