If I were to be anyone...

One of the first things told to me when given the assignment was to think outside of the box and avoid the clichéd. I do believe the person I have chosen for this topic steps outside the box in every way possible. If I could be anyone for a day I would chose to be O.J. Simpson. He is neither the stereotypical role model nor anywhere close to someone to look up to, but at the same time his character captivates me.
Before I started to write I did my research on the case and most believe him to be guilty of both murders although the courts convicted him of only one. Many rap artists refer to him in their lyrics saying they would get away like O.J. If he did in fact murder his ex-wife the fact that he could escape conviction not only insults our judicial system, but also shows that with a large amount of money and the brains to hire the right attorney anyone can receive a get out of jail free card.
In a letter written to O.J. from Nicole Brown Simpson, Nicole called O.J. on every mistake he made in the relationship from the cheating to the abuse. She asked him to keep the letter whether they stayed together or not. He cheated on her many times before their marriage and after. He told Nicole she gained too much weight during her pregnancy. He abused her. None of this makes me want to be him for a day, but more so the murder case.
His alibi, in my opinion, showed flaws in even the dimmest of lights, but the criminal courts acquitted him of all the charges. If I could get inside of his mind, I could know for sure if he did kill them as the civil court found a year after he had been acquitted preventing him from serving the judgment.
Some say he killed Nicole and Ronald Goldman because the jealousy overwhelmed him. He did truly love Nicole as said in his “suicide note” found before he turned himself in for the murders. “If we had a problem, it’s because I loved her so much.” Killing the woman you loved because she found someone else? Most people could understand if he simply killed Ronald, but to kill both?
The mind of O.J. Simpson if one of the most intriguing today. His pure intelligence in escaping the case, the unknowns in the murders, and the unavoidable questions of did he do it make my mind spin trying to figure out which way is up with him. Most other people a normal student would write about are easy to figure out, but O.J. did so much to Nicole and is still roaming the streets freely. I just want to know if he did and why. On the other hand, who wouldn’t want to be a murderer at least for a day to see what makes them tick?

That was a great read.
I wouldn't mind being a murderer for one day myself, but preferably not on the day they kill someone. My Luck? It'd be the day they were caught. *
Na, True Crime novels? My favourite secular literature. The best two authors (in my opinon)? Who really do get into the minds of mass-murderers and serial killers (because their research is meticulous and thorough) ... Brian Masters (The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer, Killing For Company) and Harold Schechter (Deviant, plus many others ... )
