If you happened to read the front page of the Manly Daily today, then you now have some understanding of true, unbridled stupidity.
A Colony of penguins, nesting at Manly's Store Beach, has been decimated; eggs smashed and parents (who share parenting duties and breed for life) scared away.
To the perpetrators, I say this: Pray that I never find out who you are. I will hunt you down and smash something dear to you. I am thinking of something on your body about the shape and size of penguin eggs - whether that thing is inside your skull, or between your legs.

such behaviour sickens me and we are such a tolerant society we allow it to happen, it's about time we got real about protecting the weak and innocent and defenceless. [That includes animals]

Don't you think it's horrible when we are not surprised to hear about it? That's a sad realisation... Why do you think this behaviour is typical of the Manly area, though?

As I said, it's hard to get into without a diatribe. I'm sure there are many wonderful and environmental people in Manly, but there is an element of ... Nup. I'm not going to go there. I think it has something to do with the tourists as well.
