Stupidity In The Form Of Laziness

March 30th 2011 13:47
Okay, this morning's latest episode of stupidity comes to us in the form of laziness. Here, like many communities with a number of elementary schools, parents are expected to provide transportation for their children because no one lives more than a mile from the school. Most of the kids are allowed to walk or ride thier bike to and from school. Of course, this means a lot of foot and bike traffic to maneuver around for the parents that choose to drive their children to the school.

Now, I realize that, for parents that work, being expected to find a way for their children to get to school may be a bit of a challenge. However, there are so many older children in the neighborhood that could walk younger children to school and children whose mothers do not work that no one should have a problem finding someone willing to help them out. I know of several families that car pool thier children to school and even more that arrange for all of their children to walk or ride bikes to school in large groups.

To me, it seems like common sense that no child should be allowed to navigate streets, even in a resdiential area, by themselves at a time when there is naturally more traffic than usual. However, this is especially true for younger children. Perhaps I am simply an overprotective parent, but accidents can happen anywhere at any time, and there is safety in numbers.

Okay, on to the specifics of the stupidity of this morning. While outside with my dogs this morning, I was listening to all of the kids talking and laughing on their way to school. Then, a short while after all of the other children had passed through the area, I saw a small child (maybe 5 or 6) with a backpack. This child was riding his TRICYCLE to school!

Maybe it is just me, but if your child is still riding a tricycle, there is a very good chance that he should not be navigating the streets by himself. Now, I know that I do not know the whole story behind this episode, but I cannot imagine being too lazy to either take my small child to school or arrange for someone to go with him. For pete's sake, you can stick your head out the door on any given morning and see several groups of kids that would likely be more than willing to let your child walk or ride with them. All you need to do is open your door and your mouth and ask.

Public Displays of Stupidity

March 26th 2011 00:53
Okay, so today's stupid people come in the form of, I kid you not, a geriatric love triangle. While walking through Walmart with my husband and children in the middle of a Friday afternoon, we witness an elderly couple arguing in the Dairy Department. While this is definitely strange, everybody argues, and on occassion, arguments can be unavoidable in public places.

The stupidity of the situation comes, not from the argument itself, but from the wife once the argument was over. This woman felt the need to share that her dirtbag husband had cheated on her numerous times over the past 55 YEARS, and she had just discovered that he was cheating on her again.

First of all, what woman in her right mind would stay with a man that cheated on her for 55 YEARS??? Maybe it is just me, but if my husband cheated on me more than once, he'd better hope she loved him enough to let him move in because he would NOT be sleeping in my house! However, this woman, who must have either a heart of gold or balls of steel, apparently stuck it out.

Second of all, why on EARTH was she surprised??? I cannot imagine that, after being cheated on for that long, the idea of her husband cheating again was really a surprise. It seems to me that, after 55 years, it would be relatively normal.

The final act of supidity comes from the absent "other woman". This man was not rich, handsome or charming. Who in their right mind would choose to have an affair with an elderly farmer from the backwoods of Oklahoma?

Personally, I find the whole situation mildly amusing. I cannot comprehend the reality of the situation. I spent the entire time expecting to see a camera crew jump out and tell everyone that it was some kind of hidden camera show. I guess it goes to show that supidity is not limited to youth, money or fame!

Military Intelligence???

March 12th 2011 03:22
Okay, my husband is in the Army. Over the past 5 years, I have witnessed the incredible level of stupidity displayed by the military on a regular basis. Today's stupidity comes to you direct from the Army to you!

My husband's unit is scheduled for a month of out-of-state training between April and May. The Army camp they are going to is VERY small, with a population of a little over 1000 people. This means limited medical resources, cramped barracks and lots of wilderness which is ideal for training. As an Army wife, I understand the need for training, this is not the stupidity.

The stupidity of this situation is that they are insisting on taking soldiers that are injured and unable to train. These poor soldiers cannot go out into the field and will be stuck in the barracks with no cell phone service, no access to stores or restaurants and limited company when they are not able to train and will be isolated from the rest of the unit anyway.

The level of military intelligence used in making this decision astounds me.

Missing The Point

March 9th 2011 17:03
Tis the season for all of the devout Christians out there to begin their annual sacrifice to their God for giving up his son for them. In other words, Lent has begun! For those of you unfamiliar with this tradition, Christians, in an effort to symbolize the sacrifice that God made for them, give up something that is important to them for the 40 days before Easter.

As a child, I remember giving up candy, my favorite toy, television and even my bike. As I got older, my sacrifices grew and developed into more important and significant things like things that were unhealthy, bad habits or unchristian like caffiene, sugar, smoking, alcohol, judging people or criticizing people. I gave up this habit years ago, but this year, I have noticed that MANY people seem to be missing the point

Stupidity Is Everywhere!

March 9th 2011 16:31
Shortly after the movie The Sixth Sense came out, my aunt sent me a fax that she recieved at work. It showed a scene from the movie in which the young boy says that he sees dead people. However, the quote at the bottom of the page said, "I see stupid people. They're everywhere! And they don't even know they're DUMB!"

We all witness stupidity on a regular basis throughout our lives. Sometimes, we are even the source of the stupidity. This blog will chronicle all of the stupidity that I witness in my life. Sometimes, I am sure it will be my own stupidity
