I don't believe in gyms

November 24th 2011 06:14
The two biggest scams in modern culture would have to be bottled water and personal trainers in gyms. Why pay for something that comes out of the tap? I have never understood the concept. Neither do I understand, the whole idea of personal trainers.

Every time I see people exercising in the gym. I have to ask myself why?. Every time I see people training in gyms, I keep thinking of a sci-fi movie where the aliens are training to be human, before the big invasion. I just don't see the point in giving $30-$50 a month to a gym. Even if the fee includes a personal trainer. Why would I want to fork over extra cash for someone to tell me that if I exercise with a weight on one arm, then that arm will get stronger.

I sometimes see job adds for call centre workers. In order to tempt people into working at these places, the adds will sometimes have discount gym membership in there.

I've got an even better idea. You really want to get fit? Do a cleaning job or labour for a couple of days. I can guarantee you will cancel your gym membership instantly.

How about this for a new gym concept: The Menial job Gym. Membership is free. After joining we send you out to clean people's houses, move pallets of bricks and shovel we concrete. Better yet, we will pay you!!!!

Here's my answer to personal trainers in gyms: The Virtual Trainer. Don't pay $30-$50 a month for some who will tell you how to get in shape. Instead buy an ipod. Buy some really good plug in speakers and then download my virtual trainer audio file. Just play it while you are working out. It will have techno music playing on it. Every now and again, the trainer's voice would shout some encouragement. Classic lines such as, "YEAH FEEL THE BURN!!!", "MASTER THE PAIN!!!!".

Have you heard of the low carb diet?, well I am on the "no car" diet. Most people use a car in this country. If you want to get fit, all you have to do is go without it. Instead of taking public transport, just riding into the city, work or where ever. Do a six kilometer bike ride once every couple of weeks and you won't need to go to a gym. The other good thing about the "no car" diet is the fact that you can eat as much food as you want. As long as you get plenty of exercise and have some fruit/vegetable intake some where, you will be fine. Take it from me this diet works
