ICONOCLASTEROID - Defenestrate your lover and love me instead.

I do weird things for money.

May 7th 2007 06:21
: Ouch.
As a full-time student at a rigorous institution of education, unfortunately I was forced to do strange things for money (never mind working traditional jobs, natch). My favorite things to do included donating my body to science.

Visual accounts follow.

Oh, and hey, Orble! If I can find a gerund in a sentence, will you pay me so I needn't do this anymore?

The patient.
I was drugged.

Procedure.

Procedure 2.

Procedure 3.

Procedure 4.

You can still see the scars.

I actually really like being a research subject. Usually the protocols are ran by humorous graduate students. Usually the pay is enormous. And this particular lab I first volunteered for during my freshman year of school way back in 2000... and I still go in to help them out! They're really cool folks.

Fear of needles, though, is an immediate disqualification.

I've also passed out on a tilt-table during a blood pressure study, been exposed to harsh blasts of white noise during an eyeblink study, had my brainwaves analyzed more times than I can remember, and have biked until failure with mild carbon monoxide poisoning.

Hi Philip

It sounds really interesting and an innovative way of making money as a student, but those procedures in the pics look very painful....

Lytocaine (did I spell that right?) is my friend, man.

Oh, wow... I can see the book on the shelves now... "My Life as a Test Subject", or, "Anything for a Buck", although the second one may be widely misunderstood in inappropriate ways. *LOL*

I bet it'd be a best seller. Then again, with the Lytocaine (did I spell that right?), you might not remember enough to actually WRITE the details! *LOL*

Picture book, maybe? (Not suitable for children of all ages) *smirk*

Yeah, this isn't the only one I have pictures from.

Also, I'm going to refer to this post on my new blog, Clearly Broke, as it fits the theme there to a T. Forgive my own self-plagiarism.
