Most people start online and they just want to get their blog up but i read recently that 90% of new online businesses fail in less than 6 months.... can you imagine that. Less than 6 months into a business and the person has given up. I think what is even worse than that is the fact that many people try for years without any success.

Why does that happen?

Well usually because they get frustrated. Many are promised instant results and when it doesn't happen they throw in the towel. Those people didn't deserve to make it anyway and neither do you if you are going to give up at the first hurdle. No one who achieves financial freedom did it by giving up when things got rough.

The recession has thrown a huge curve ball for me in my business but now things are picking up again and I am more determined than ever to ensure I have strong reserves and a continuing cycle of great material to sell online so that even if my consultancy works dries up I will always have my online information business and blogs.

It is important that you develop the mindset to succeed online

You can optimize the possibility of success by:

1. Having a good solid business plan in place BEFORE you launch your online business. There is an old saying: “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”. A detailed set of plans for success needs to be made. You need to have the steps from getting from point A to point B listed in great detail that include realistic cost estimates for accomplishing each step.

2. Expecting to work very hard to accomplish your goals. You must never expect anything to be easy. You will be right most of the time because things are rarely as easy as they look. Each step toward success requires work, time and patience. Sometimes things don’t work out right on the first try. You have to be willing to try again and again until you do succeed.

3. Not falling for ‘get-rich-quick schemes. The internet woods are full of those who prey upon those who are looking for quick and easy ways to become rich. Those ways do not exist. Get over thinking that there is an easy way. There is NOT.

Remember those statistics! Ninety percent of all new internet businesses fail within 6 months. You don’t have to be part of that majority. You can become a part of that 10% minority of successful internet business enterprises.

How do you know what to focus on

September 7th 2009 21:22
Before you install a Wordpress blog you need to research a niche so you know what to focus your blog on.

Loads of people focus on how to research your niche and you want to do all you can to make sure that you find a large number of people searching for what you are about to offer.

You also want to make sure they have the disposable income to spend on what you are about to offer. If you do not have a product to offer then it really doesn't matter because you can offer affiliate products. These are products that you sell on behalf of an organization.

You need a viable market to succeed - too many people start a blog that has no income potential because they think people will want what they have. It is always the other way around.

You have to focus on what the market wants not on what you think the market wants.

If you want more help on knowing whether your niche is viable <a Really Long Link this one-hour video tutorial from Success Chef</a>

When it comes to setting anything up online if you don't know who you are marketing to how will you know what kind of message to write?

This blog is for anyone who wants to install a Wordpress blog - the message is clear.
It is not for someone looking to start a blogger blog, and not for people looking to design a website.

Because I know who I am aiming at helping I can craft my messages accordingly.

The second thing to remember is that you want to help and provide value first.

People need to get to know, like and trust me before they will ever take another step towards me so I provide as much value as I can for them.

You can do that through your blog of course, also by offering a free newsletter, free ebooks, guides and other information, free teleseminars - anything that helps to show people you are the expert.

And lastly you need to know what it is the people you are marketing to want. If they have a problem you need to be the solution, if they are miserable what you will offer needs to make them happy, if they want to be, do or have something you have to give it to them.

I know the people I target want to make money blogging, learn how to install a Wordpress blog so they can use it to build a business and earn an income online and some people just want to install one for fun so they can run a personal blog.

So first decide who your target market is, what they want, how you will be the answer to what they want and what you will provide to ensure they get to know like and trust you.
