How to Celebrate Half a Century
August 17th 2007 03:38
Let me start by apologising to all you people out there who are mistaking the title to be anything related to cricket - it's not.
You see, it's my mother's 50TH BIRTHDAY on Sunday and i am sitting here wracking my brain (instead of working) trying to figure out how to make her feel 'special'.
Let's see:
-First option was a surprise party but since i did that for my dad last year she might expect one too
-Then i thought take her out to dinner - but i do that all the time
-Thought i should maybe ask her if there is anything she would like to do but that is lame. Besides i can just see her reaction ' i dont want to do anything' but deep down she is probably thinking 'if after 28 years you can't figure out what your mother wants then clearly you are not the daughter i hoped you would be'.
So what do i do????? Can't pretend that i just forgot! This woman does deserve to be recognised for endless hours of labour (10 times!), 33 years of marriage, living through countless wars and of course surviving half a century!
Any thoughts?
