How to Blog.
April 5th 2009 22:41
There's so little information around on how to blog, so I thought I would share my wealth of knowledge and experience with you.
Firstly, forget about making money from it. And forget about teaching others to blog, regardless of how appealing that is to your ego. Only other deluded souls will read what you have to say and comment on it. And in the end you'll end up with a mutual-appreciation society, backslapping blog. Buy a mirror and just study your own magnificence.
Blog about things that are interesting, and don't commit the cardinal sin of writing about something we've already read about on a media website. If you don't have anything interesting to say, it might be better if you stopped blogging and gave people a break. We know what Britney got up to yesterday. We read about it somewhere else.
I do realise that if these rules of blogging are followed, there will only be about three blogs left on Orble. But wouldn't that be great. Three interesting blogs compared to a few thousand boring as batshit ones.
Instead of being a self-proclaimed expert on blogging, see if there's anything you truly do know something about, and write about that. Most people write about themselves. Me is their favourite topic. It's the thing they're most interested in anyway. They only read and respond to comments to boost their own egos. They sit there and think, How will I respond to this one so the person thinks I'm really nice, and comes back again to keep my Karma up and my popularity where it is? Then they write the nicest comment they can and the person thinks they're really nice. And then they thank each other for being nice people and again, you end up with a mutual-appreciation, backslapping blog again.
Not a lot of people know about Spears & Jackson shovels. If you have a collection of them, take photos of them, and explain the differences. That would be fascinating.
