How many email accounts do you have?
November 3rd 2006 08:40
Referring from the last post, I was talking about spam mails. And this post talks about how many emails could we carry on to identify our existence in the Internet…
Previously when my business partner and me tried to form an Internet company, we created our own domain and we also named our company. And one of the queer things we do was to check as many free web mails we could find and take hold on that particular username of most free email extensions, “locking” the username prior to ours.
But that’s not all. Because of doing some Internet earning, such as PTC (Paid-To-Click) and some HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs) I created another personal account to handle those “get paid to” emails, not to mention that I have an account for office use (since I can’t really surf to free web mails during working hours), some accounts for IM (like Yahoo and Hotmail), and last but not least, storage space or for blogging.
That’s quite a handful of email accounts I need to handle. At first it was all right, but soon the evil spybot found out my email addresses and starts to spam me with junks. And I have to do so much filtration rules (like Yahoo’s bulk mail) to cipher out the right and normal emails. But how long can this go on?
The lesson I learn, we sometimes just can’t run away from spam mails as long as our email addresses are active.

Question:
How many email address do you have?
Is it wise to have just one account and handle all the junk / friends / business emails at one go?
Or
Is it better to segregate your email addresses to their specific use?

One gets heaps of spam, the other two aren't that bad. Gmail is a pretty decent webmail set up though.

Thanks for your comment! ^_^
I just got my gmail account as it is easier to store larger mails and it has that free forwarding feature which is pretty cool!
Those email accounts that are kept low profile are the ones that aren't really effected by spam mails.
Speaking of which, because I hardly use hotmail for emailing, only receive some newsletters and IM, I do not get as much spam mails as the rest of the gang, particularly, Yahoo mail.
