How Do You Ask For a Date?
December 1st 2011 17:03
How do you ask someone out for a date? Do you introduce yourself and ask for their phone number when first meeting them? Do you wait a while and get to know them? Do you get someone else to ask for you? Do you wait for them to ask you?
When it comes to asking someone out on a date the only rule is to be polite. As longs as you are nice there is no wrong way to do it. There is nothing wrong with a man asking a woman as long as he doesn’t say something vulgar. I have a rule when asking a woman out for a date. I never use words that I wouldn’t say around my mother.
And it’s okay for a woman to ask a man out as well. I have been asked out by a few women. The one’s who have done it nicely have gotten my respect. Those who have done it with innuendo and lust have not. If they will say something to me that they wouldn’t to their own father then are they really looking for a serious relationship?
I’ve seen people ask each other out for a date in all of the ways I’ve mentioned in chapter one. Sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes no. As my friend Steve always says, ‘You never know if you don’t ask.’
I don’t think I’ve ever asked a woman for her phone number when we’ve first met. I’m too shy to do that. Most men are.
I usually get to know her first. Most of the women I end up dating are usually ones I’ve met in social settings or at work. By socializing and talking to them I get a feel for what they are like and whether a relationship is worth pursuing. Then I’ll go out with her and a group of friends. If we hit it off then she will give me a hint to ask for her phone number and I go from there.
This may not be the best method, but it’s the one that works for me and that I’m comfortable with.
And that’s the point. When asking someone out for a date you should do what’s comfortable. There is no wrong way as long as you are polite.
