"Hotel Rwanda":
Hotel Rwanda is a movie that was made in 2004. I think it is an independent foreign film. Just like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, It was originally released with an "R" rating, but has been revised to PG-13. It is educational; It helps people learn about Africa for those who once thought Africa as being a country. There are people saying that they watched this movie in one of their social studies classes in school. I never did that. I wish I could have. I didn't even learn anything about what happened in Rwanda in 1994 until I watched this movie yesterday.
Since I am fascinated by other countries and their similarities, I began to watch this movie. I liked the buildings, cars, and technology. After that I heard the voice over describing "The Cockroaches", and I still watched the movie. After doing some research on this movie to find out more about it, I am surprised that it was made in 2004!! I know the date said 1994 which described the time and place, which means it couldn't have been made sooner than that. It is made ten years after 1994, and still creates a feel of entertainment productions made from 1965-1989. Some people think that this makes the film dull and poorly acted, but I don't. Instead I applaud at the quality of the film and the lack of soundtracks played through the film (at least I don't remember hearing any). and in its place is the people talking to each other, and people panicking where you can truly hear the sound of a mob approaching, for example. There are other events such as the U.N. trucks being stopped by throwning a wrecked vehicle in its path, the arguments between each other, Paul not being able to get onto the truck, and trying to find his family which are terrified and use a shower as a fort.
Hotel Rwanda is one of those movies that effectively describes, writes, and produces itself.
When there are movies that are based on an event that really happened, it is common for the end of the movie to describe what happened to the people afterwards. Hotel Rwanda might be described as dull by a few other people, but when you compare this movie with other movies that have the description of what happened to the people at the end of the movies, Hotel Rwanda certainly should not look bad once it has been compared to a few other movies that based on real events.
If you haven't seen Hotel Rwanda before, please get it.
