Relax and Watch A Movie

May 16th 2008 00:32
With the rising cost of goods and commodities, budget-conscious families are trying to cut down on their expenses. Personally, we haven't been to a cinema for several months. But that's okay, because there are many movies in the public domain that are available to watch online for free. Just get the popcorn ready and check out these classic movies from Movies FoundOnline.Com.

Dick Tracy
Fllash Gordon Conquers the Universe
Gullivers Travels

These are among my faves on the list. Do check out the rest of the movies here.

Crayola Fun

May 16th 2008 00:12
Have you seen Crayola's latest commercial featuring their 3-D line of products? It's awesome, my daughter has been saving her allowance so she can buy it. In the meantime, she is having a blast creating different artworks using various Crayola products on the Crayola Digi-Color website. On their website you can choose among different drawing materials like pencils, crayons and markers to create colorful works of art. It's something you and your little one will enjoy.

Visit Crayola Digi-Color here.

The Rise and Fall of A Prodigy

May 13th 2008 14:24
"Lost Genius", a book by Kevin Bazzana, chronicles the life of a piano prodigy named Ervin Nyiregyhazi. I must admit I've never heard of Nyiregyhazi.or his music until now.

Read the book review from the Chicago Tribune. I also found a short clip of him playing the role of Franz Liszt in the movie"The Lost Zeppelin" (he's the one playing the piano).

We recently experienced a magnitude 6.7 earthquake where we live. Although there were no reported injuries and damages caused by the quake, this incident made me realize that we were unprepared for such calamities. Of course natural calamities are very unpredictable but having a family emergency and escape plan would help us think clearly and act fast when the need arises.

More Animoto Fun

May 9th 2008 01:35
Here's another video I made using Animoto. These pics were taken during my travels. My only problem with Animoto is that it only allows you to make short clips for free. I hope you enjoy this nonetheless.

I Heart Animoto

May 8th 2008 03:25
Animoto is a website that allows you to upload your photos, add music and then turn it into a video complete with effects. It's quick, easy and fun.

Here's one of my creations, it's in shockwave.

In the News...

May 6th 2008 14:25
My daughter was tested for giftedness when she was five years old. Usually, IQ tests are administered to kids when they enter Kindergarten. However, it appears that a school in Washington state will be giving IQ tests to preschool-aged kids. This is because the said school will be starting a program for gifted children. Piano Lessons on YouTube

May 6th 2008 14:00
I've mentioned before that I was relearning how to play the piano and even uploaded some videos of the pieces I was learning at the time. Good news is I've learned more pieces since then and I'm looking to add more to my personal repertoire.

One piece I really like to learn is Claire De Lune by Claude Debussy. I usually learn from reading music sheets but this time I wanted to try something new - video tutorials. So I went on YouTube and found this very interesting way of learning piano.

on Who can tell me how to load a U tube video onto Orble

April 23rd 2008 05:32
I was going to reply to your question but I see you already know the answer. So...embed away!

Here's a funny one:

"Are you going to starve an old friend?"

Correct lyric: "Are you going to Scarborough Fair?"

on TALKING 'BOUT MY GENERATION

The first video is simply brilliant! it's sad but oh so true. We will never exist without our grandparents and parents, we need to respect them and show them we care. We owe them that.

on WELL DON'T I FEEL LIKE A FOOL!

Mrs. M - I hear ya! I'm also trying to improve my family's health by making healthy food choices. I've wanted to try a more organic-based diet but it's really pricey. What i don't understand is, why is it so? Shouldn't it be less expensive because they don't use chemicals commonly used in non-organic food?

"Fascinating?" What's fascinating is how quickly money vanishes every payday. Maybe the flying pig took it?

on Are we desensitizing our kids?

Johnny - I agree with you, kids often do crazy things when they are in a group. As parents what we can do is to try our best to guide them and teach them to choose friends wisely.

Mrs. M - Someone posted the clip on Youtube with a link to the before and after pic of the victim plus a copy of the complaint they filed. It's really horrific to say the least.

Gaye - You are right. kids today have become uncontrollable because parents have become almost afraid to control them. A parents role doesn't end even when the kid reaches a certain age.

Cheryl - I agree, if they justify the actions of these kids, then what does that teach them? it will only make then think that they can do anything and get away with it. And maybe the next thing they'll do will be even more serious or fatal.

on Doting Parents -- in my defense

April 7th 2008 22:54
Isn't it amazing? How we are able to nurture these children and witness all their important "firsts"? I have an ongoing scrapbook project wherein I chronicle my daughter's milestones, from birth 'til now that she's in second grade. I'm still amazed everytime I look at the many photos I've taken of her. Children are such precious gifts.

on Stand By Your Cheating Man?

March 20th 2008 18:03
I agree Sara. If it was a single transgression it might have been more forgivable. But an affair that's been going on for years...that's another story. That's what we are wondering too, why did he marry her if he is in love with someone else? Why not tell her the truth from the start? The other woman clearly knows she is a mistress, it's one of the reasons why they were able to keep it secert for a long time. The sad part is, there are children involved. We are trying to give our friend the support she needs. It's hard though because she's in another country and our circle of friends are scattered in different parts of the world. Thank God for IM.
