Another Year

February 16th 2008 14:53
The truth is, I'm thankful I have been granted this time to write and express my opiniions. I know that the past has seen hardships for all of us in one way or another. We have weathered them and come out on the other side.

I had to have another operation and am now recouperating at home. Been fighting with a brewing infection in my sternum since 2005. Maybe this time it will get cleared up.

Many of my friends and family members have had hardships in 2007, as I am sure many others have suffered through. May God be with all of you who have had a hard time in any way. I sincerely hope any negative experiences will see us stronger in 2008.

I know when we are at our lowest, our inner strength will kick in and we are able to get through the worst of it.

On a lighter note, this new gives us a chance to renew our lives and take stock in how we view the world. For me it will be a chance to review and change a few things that need to be updated in my life. I have been down too long and need to do an overhaul in attitude and the physical.

Let me know what you think.

The Truth About the Presidency

February 7th 2008 17:19

HI All;

I have sat by and watched the parade of Presidential candidates for years. It seems as if the more they come the more incompetent they have seemed.

I am really not that politically inclined, but I know that we are in a pickle right now and that calls for a change in the country. It does my heart good to see a woman in the running. I really think when all is said and done, the "boys club" will not allow her in. They will find some way to make sure she does not go all the way to the White House.

All I really want is a leader who is looking out for our well being. I am all for helping others but at what cost? It is time we were able to take a deep breath and say we are being led by someone who cares more about their country, and the people in it, than how the oil prices will affect their family fortune.

I know we can't go back to the way it was when everything was much simpler, and we were kept in the dark about things they felt was not our business. I wouldn't want to anyway. I think we need to take a long hard look at our candidates to see where they have been and what they have stood for.

The Truth About Giving Thanks

November 22nd 2007 00:06
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day.

My oldest brother is spending the holiday in the hospital recovering from surgery to remove rectal cancer.

The next oldest lives in Michigans Upper Peninsula, and really wanted to be with us (in the lower peninsula) for Thanksgiving. Because of an accident he has limited sight, and his wife never learned to drive, so he was not able to make it this year.

My youngest brother has moved from Michigan to Texas and with having to be on dyalisis(spelling?) every night, he will not be joining us.

My sister's faith does not provide for her and her family to celebrate holidays and birthdays.

So, There will be three of us here for Thanksgiving. My life Partner, my son, and myself.

I am reminded of holidays when everyone congregated at the home of my parents were we visited, laughed, and caught up on all of our news. These are fond memories and will always be with me.

Oh, there will be the normal preparations as there have been every year. The traditional turkey will be roasted to a perfect golden brown. There will be mashed potatoes, sweet corn, stuffing, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, and gravy. For dessert, along with the traditional pumpkin pie, we also have cherry and blueberry. These I am baking tonight so they will be ready to eat after the feast.

I know that as I sit down to enjoy this meal, I will be thinking of all the Thanksgivings that have passed. At that time, as right now, I will give thanks for my wonderful family no matter where they may be, and say a prayer that they are having a wonderful day, no matter what they may be doing.

After we eat, we will make a trip to the hospital to see my brother, and visit with him for an hour or two.

When he is ready to be released from the hospital he will be coming home to the home the four of us are buying together, because he is family and a family needs to stick together in time of need.

FINDING A LOST SIBLING

July 18th 2007 02:08

What would you do if you found out your father or mother had an entire family before yours? A friend of mine recently found out that her father had a family of 5 before he had the family of 5 she was part of. She was contacted by her unknown siblings and they now visit regualarly.

I NEVER KNOW HOW SICK I AM

June 21st 2007 22:43
About 2 years ago I was in the hospital having open heart surgery. I listen to David Letterman and Regis Philben talk about how harrowing their experience was when they had the same surgery.

My surgeon had to make a path to put an artery in my heart. He did a 5 way bypass with 2 arteries. He told my family I would probably not make it. To make matters worse I had a young nurse that night and she wanted me to sleep through the night. She gave me extra sleep and pain medication and I quit breathing and would have died if it wasn't for the nurse's aid that called a code on me and they brought me back by putting that awful breathing tube back in

I read a story once, about three women walking in a mall parking lot, when one of the three's husband came behind them and started stabbing her in the back. The story was being told by one of the other women. She said there were people everywhere and not one of them made a move to help. She knew she had to do something and picked up a sign that was sitting near-by and started hitting him with it until he was out. She stopped him, but not in time to save her friend.

I have lived in America my entire life and still find it hard to follow the process.

I usually end up doing research on how honest the candidate is and how well they have shown leadership ability in their previous endeavors, (governor, senator etc...). And try to vote from there.

on IF SOMEONE WERE TRYING TO HURT YOUR FRIEND?

July 25th 2007 11:01
Tammy;

You are so right. I feel sick thinking of all of the women who have been killed just because they listened to their killer and believed that he would not hurt them if they came along quietly.
Actually there has never been anything too quiet about me when it came to confrontation.

on FINDING A LOST SIBLING

Life-stuff;

I really don't know how they kept it a secret. I think the grandparents on the father's side had passed away as her parents were older when she and her brother were born.

Maybe she heard it when she was young and didn't remember it???? I really can't fathom living in the same house with my parents for years and not finding out something like that.

She is a great person and is recently getting over the heartbreak of her husband leaving her after 30 years together. She has found she is stronger than she thought.

Thanks for the input!

on "Prayers for my friend please!!"

Tammy;

I too have fibro. Please tell your friend to get a second opinion or test for Lupus. The reason is because you can get a false positive for Lupus and MS when you have Fibro.

I belong to a Fibro support group and one of the members was being treated for MS when she did not have it.

Prayers and Love,
Hope

Tammy;

I have Fibromyalgia and it is terribly painful. You need to see a doctor, if you haven't yet. I also have diabetes and it can bring on pain also.

It sounds to me as if a nerve is pinched somewhere in your back. Although you really should see about the diabetes and the Fibromyalgia.

God Bless,

July 19th 2007 13:26

Tammy;

I know how hard it is to lose a parent. At first it will seem as though your heart will break. I do know that each and every day will put distance between yourself and the tragedy, and your sorrow will subside as the days go by

God Bless,

on THE TRUTH ABOUT SIBLINGS

June 13th 2007 10:36
Hi Mrs M;

I too have felt alienated from my siblings in the past. I think, for the most part, some of them have been jealous because I was 'The Baby'.

I always wondered what I did wrong, but I can't keep dwelling on it, and they don't seem as indifferent and cold as they were.

Thanks for the post, Hope to hear from you again.
