Is your kitchen decor bland or maybe just out-dated? You need a modern update! Here is one with a vineyard theme.

WINE RACK: Place empty wine bottles in a wine rack. Weave some green grapevine in and out of the rack for extra decoration. Place the wine rack either on top of your cabinets or anywhere else you have room it.

GET ACCESSORIZED: Place a grape kitchen towel on your stove handle or on your refrigerator door handle. Hang a vineyard clock on the wall. Hang a whimsical vineyard sign between your counter and cabinets. Buy some other vineyard accessories and have fun decorating with them!

DECORATE WITH LIGHTED GRAPEVINE: Go to a local craft store and see if they have green leaf grapevine with lights running through it. (You can also use green leaf grapevine and weave Christmas lights through it yourself.) Hang the grapevine around the top of your cabinets. Use the faux bundles of grapes and hang one every 2 feet or so in the grapevine. Plug in the lights and tad-a! You now have a gorgeous, modern vineyard kitchen!

Add color to your home

Ready for a change? Tired of looking at your boring white walls? What you need is some color to wake up those rooms!

PAINT! First you need to figure out a color scheme that you want to use. If you don't feel confident about matching colors you can get help at any home improvement or home decor store. They usually have a series of 2-5 colors that go well together, so that you will have a concise look. Remember white always goes with any color and bring brightness and depth to the look of a room!

COLOR TECHNIQUES! There are many ways to paint a room. You could paint all of the walls the same color. Just remember if you do this it should be done with a light color. If you paint all of the walls in a room a dark color it will have a tendency to make the room feel small and could even give it a depressing feeling. (see picture to the above)

FLIP FLOP! A new fad that is very appealing to the eye is painting alternate walls with alternate colors. For example, you may paint the two longer walls in a room a light beige color and the two shorter walls a nice dark red color. The light beige brings down the tone of the dark red in a nice way. (see picture to the above)

MIX IT UP! Paint three walls a lighter color and the fourth wall a darker shade of the same color. This give a room dimension and brings more attention to the wall with the darker shade.

HALF & HALF! Another fad that is popular is painting the top half of a wall one color and painting the bottom half another color. Usually this looks nice when the bottom half of the wall is white or even a wooden texture. (see picture to the above)

CLEAN LINES: You want the room to have a clean, beach feel. Keep the colors soft and atmosphere calm. A light blue and white will give you this soft calming effect.

BEDDING: Add a thick, yet light, soft white comforter to your bed. Put white pillow cases on your top pillows (the ones you use when you make your bed). Also, add a couple of light blue throw pillows.

WALLS: If you wish you can paint two of your walls light blue, while leaving the other two white. However, if you do not want to paint, you could find a modern beach theme border to hang in the middle of the wall all the way around the wall. A border with starfish or seashells would help finish the soft, calming beach look of the room.

DECOR: Get online and shop for beach decor. There are many online sites that have cute beach home decorations. Try to find a fountain that can give an even better effect of the beach, by listening to the rippling water. If you cannot afford to buy everything you want right now then buy a little now and a little more later. This will allow you to switch the look once in a while.

ENJOY: Most of all, enjoy your sweet, soft, calming beach room! Spend time lying on your soft bed, admiring your beach decor, and listening to the water from your fountain every evening for an escape from the ordinary!
