Goal: Fun at Universal Studios Hollywood to celebrate my birthday...
It's my birthday and I'll celebrate how I want to! I made the most of this day. I got up at 6a.m and got ready for a day of fun. I had a yogurt, fruit and granola parfait and Carmel coffee in the hotel coffee house. They had large soft chairs with small tables with a lamp beside them, a table for a group of people, two tables for two and a small bookcase. I sat in one of the comfy chairs to have my breakfast. I then took a walk and fond where to catch the Metro for tomorrows adventure. Looks like a great and easy way to get around.
9:30 a.m. I caught the shuttle to Universal Studios. I was in the park by 10:15 because of the line. Not a bad wait really. I can't believe when people complain so much. You can wait way longer to get into places like Cedar Point. I didn't wait more than maybe a half hour for any of the attractions either and still people were complaining. I have waited 3 hrs for attractions at Cedar PointI'm just saying.
I went on the back lot tour first. Shows are taping during March so the back lot is really active with workers building sets and whatever else may be needed. While going past the lunch area I got to see Ethan Suplee from MY NAME IS EARL, Without a Paddle, and The Butterfly Effect to name a few.
They were also filming Desperate House Wives. Everyone on the tram had to be really quiet . We were told the microphones could pick up any loud sounds with in a certain area of filming. All we could really see was Susan's house and a lot of vans, trailers and technical equipment. But everyone was trying to look up the street on Mysteria lane to see anyone.
Then I went for a ride into the future. I love all the back to the future movies so I love this ride too. Next I went on something that wasn't there the last time I visited. I took a ride on the Underground coaster THE MUMMY. What made it fun was it was mostly in the dark, had unexpected drop offs and when backwards part of the way. Next I went to Jurassic Park. Its such a calm place to visit and look at friendly dinosaurs. At least at first and then the Rex comes out to try to eat you and the only means to escape is over the waterfall AAAAAAAAAAAAAh. To dry of I went to the Backdraft set where Ron Howard, Scot Glen, and Kurt Russell teach about the dangers of fire. Then the room participants are in is set on fire. Way cool and it dries you off pretty quickly.
I wasn't done yet. Still lots to see and do. I went to a special effects show, took a little break for some banana split dippin dots and then it was off to visit Shrek. He is such a nice Ogar. After the cool 4D movie I got my picture taken with him. While enjoying the 65 degree plus weather I also got my picture taken with King Kong, the Back to the future Delorean and an Apollo 13 display. Last I went through Dracula's Castle and went in the Terminated 3D movie. I didn't see much in the castle because it was pretty crowded and I hid behind the people in front of meI'm a wuss. The Terminator movie was cool but the people they had playing the people in the movie didn't match up that good. And when the characters were on the screen it was the original actors and when they were on the stage suddenly Ed Furlongs character had longer hair and was taller. I also watch a little bit of the Blues Brothers performance.
I was exhausted and quite hungry at the end of my adventure. I planned on going to Hard Rock Caf for dinner, but there was some seating issue so I left. They aren't as nice as the people from Cleveland. I ended up picking up a Teriyaki Chicken sub at Subway and Cinnabon for desert. Then I caught the shuttle back to the hotel at 6:15 pm. Long day at the park I went to the hotel. Had a bubble bath with lots of bubbles, ate and watched my very favorite show LOST and had a very good nights sleep on my king size bed with 4 huge pillows.
