HI Lo - by Oliva

My Poor Boy

June 8th 2007 14:45
My 8yr old

LO-I have to put the LO first because he said his day was all about the LO.

Everything went wrong today. First the track meet was rained out and now the kids can't go to the final trackmeet a few days later because they take the top 2 from each category to go to the finals and that means he can't go to the finals. So sad! I was devasted! Then he said I put the wrong sandwich in his lunch. I put the one with mustard. He hates mustard.
Then he didn't bring his liabrary books or his agenda or his bag, because he thought he was going to be at the trackmeet all day.

Then he had to write his homework on a little piece of paper and carry his books home in his hand. Since he came to school late he had alot of work to catch up on. Puuf!

HI-His mom (me) brought his liabrary books to school and when he returned to school after the trackmeet he was right in time for DPA (a supervised play period)

Ahhhh, the simplicity of childhood!

Weight is Going Down

June 6th 2007 14:00
HI-My weight is going down! I stepped on the scale this morning and finally I am down a couple of pounds. How did I do it? Well, a couple of things.
1) I heard Oprah say, it is straight physics. Energy in Energy out. Burn more than you eat and you will lose weight, simple. ok.....

2)..so I upped my exercise routine. My goal is to do 60 mins on the treadmill 5 days a week.

3) I started counting calories and I realized that I was really fooling myself! The first day I counted the calories that I had already consumed for the day, I counted over 1800 calories. Mind you that was about 2 to 3 times less than what I usually eat. I was stunned. I thought I had eaten sooooo little that day. Yes, I had eaten little, compared to what I usually eat!

4) I go for the fruits and vegetables first. I went to my mom's house on the weekend and poor thing, she was expecting 20 people and she cooked for about 60 (as usual) and then she had about 16 guests, 6 of whom came late. So there was alot of food. What did I eat?
A full plate of raw vegetables. After which I was too full to eat much. You know how long raw veggies take to eat...Then I had a little chow mein. Later on I had a fruit and a small tart and that was about it. Then my mom sent a box of food home with me and I usually feel pressured to eat alot so the food doesn't go to waste. Not this time. I'll eat what I should and if the food spoils before I get to it, oh well.
I already threw out a bag of veggies and a bowl of macaroni salad. Oh well, I am not putting that on my body!

5) I have been listening to a subliminal tape for weightloss and it has helped me to make and stick to this plan. I am doing well and I have more than 50 lbs to go, but I finally feel like I can make it. Phew

LO-My daughter is having some friend issues at school and I feel so sad that she has to be sad. I'm such a mom! Who wants their child to be hurt? Anyway, I think I was able to give some good and practical advice. "Don't let other people take your power....don't let others determine how you feel, what you do and who you talk to....we are always acting out of fear. Stop and ask yourself what are you afraid of? Then know that you are bigger than your fears...blah...blah....blah.. ..I can't wait to hear how her day went.

uh...If I only had had someone to talk to me like this when I was 14!

My Hi Lo

May 25th 2007 03:00
My Lo today was hearing an advertisement for a reality show about people getting evicted. what kind of a society is this that we want to view such a low point in someone's life? Will these people give permission to be taped? Ofcourse not. Shameful.

My Hi was cutting my lawn. It was well overdue and it looks great now. I don't like the job but could not wait on the hubby anymore. I sure am grateful that I have a lawn to mow and a mower to do the work.

Why Hi Lo

May 24th 2007 03:01
Last year I started the practice of asking my children 14, 8,3, what was their hi and lo of the day. I was really intrigued by theri responses. I started to hear things from them I never heard before. And they really looked forward to sharing. Fro my older daughter, I sometimes add, drama, fears/worries, hopes/dreams. I really love the feedback I am getting.
So I will share it with you along with my own Hi/Los and i would love to hear yours too.
