"Here's Lookin' At You, Kid": Christine Michael

June 12th 2010 06:43

In a new idea for blogs here, The Crimson Crusader wants to open up the writing inside his blog to online Internet users, people like you who enjoy reading my stuff.

I wanted to take a look at some of the most prolific, young, up-and-coming Big 12* players and how their fans bases think they will end up doing. For my first selection I looked on further than Texas A&M runningback Christine Michael. 2009 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, leading the Aggies with 844 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns, and being named to ESPN.com's Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

But I could go on and on about Michael, but I preferred to go to TexAgs.com and ask them myself. I now bring to you what the Aggies think of their new force on the ground, directly from their reponses.

Ragnar Danneskjold: He very well might be the best back to come through this school in at least the last 20 years. His spin move is so perfect scientists use it to calibrate their instruments. Seriously, kid is a beast and is going to leave this school with a lot of records. He is fast enough to run by you (ask baylor) and strong enough to run you over (ask tech).

Whistling For Flies: He's like a mutant ninja jackrabbit on steroids.

There's A Spirit: Christine plays with attitude and swagger. He looked very mature and natural as a freshman. He always plays like he has something to prove. Christine is an explosive play maker and a bruising runner that can squeeze extra yards out of every play. He's a player you will definitely see playing on Sundays in a few years. I think he will have a huge year this year and may likely be a favorite for the Heisman in 2011.

ScooterAg: Christine is a north/south runner with east/west moves at his disposal. He would rather run over you then around you, but can take you out of you shoes if needs be. He was slightly better than average speed and above average strength for his classification. Should put up good numbers as a true sophomore and shine as a junior when our line comes around. Expect close to 4 digits in the the yards column and between 10-15 tds.

PooDoo: One thing that struck me about him was his absolute humility. He came in as one of the highest rated Aggie recruits in quite a while and in all his interviews he talked about the team and family atmosphere in the locker room. He referred to Cyrus Gray as a big brother and thanks him for taking him under his wing. It seems like he's very coachable and that's pretty dangerous when you combine that attitude with his God given ability.

79AG: While he's clearly one of the best athletes on the field, he's mature enough to always put the Team first. An explosive runner with elusive moves. Any time he has the ball, you don't want to leave your seat or even blink in fear of missing him make cuts, spin moves, and take it to the House. A good looking young man with the right amount of humility and confidence to start on any collegiate team in America. C-Mike makes the Maroon & While faithful very proud.

bornagainaggie09: Only player I've ever seen run/play/block/catch/etc. 110% every play, whether it's practice or in a game. Every time he touches the ball or not it looks like he's playing in a national championship or super bowl. He's inspiration to every fan and every player involved in the game.

bagger05: Overall, one of the most complete skill-sets at RB that A&M has had in a while. As soon as he matures a little bit, learns to protect the ball better, and improves his receiving and blcoking, he will be a really great back. If he does that this year, he could possibly be one of the best (or THE best) running back in the Big 12. He has a really good head on his shoulders, so hopefully he can stay healthy and keep that work ethic and make it at the next level.

GeorgiAg: He can shoot fire out of his eyeballs.

RAM700BA: I cover my eyes when he gets the ball, and pray for the opposing team's families. If he could get charged for his violent running, he would be doing life in prison!

maroonatic46: I understand that BP may lower him down to the busted well head. At 5000 ft. he will eject and swim to the gusher. Using his powerful thighs, he will squat atop the blowout, quickly stemming the flow. Halliburton will then encase him and the wellhead in cement. After the cement cures, he will carefully wiggle his way out as H'burton cements the gap. After a quick snack of oiled shrimp, he will hurry back to CS to do his lifting. Usually he lifts the Academic Building. He's also a good blocker.
