Bird Vs. Magic
Some things never change...

Lakers vs. Celtics...

Wow...All is right with the basketball gods on this day. The Celtics and the Lakers are back on the grandest stage in basketball. In a very 'new school' NBA where the old and the new are in direct conflict with each other on so many levels, this is something goes back to the very essence of what the NBA is all about.

The rivalry to end all rivalries has been rekindled anew. New coaches; New players, same tradition. It's something that long time fans of the league have been chomping at the bit for. This year's match-up between the two teams is gonna be an intruiging one. the Celtics were essentially built to win the title right now. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett have essentially willed the franchise to this championship series appearence. Kobe Bryant has matured and allowed the positive development of the current Laker's squad around him. There are plenty of storylines and subplots that will be closely explored uring the course of the series.

Storylines aside, the marquee names and talent are there in spades. That means good things for us as basketball purists.

Let the games begin!!!!

Kobe Bryant

Possibly the most polarizing baller in the league right now is sitting pretty. The Spurs just ate a heart-wrenching 2 point loss on their home floor, moving this incarnation of the "Lake Show" one huge step closer to the NBA finals. Love him or hate him, there's no denying that Kobe is close to answering the looming question that alot of folks had wondered aloud after Shaq bolted to the Florida panhandle...

Can he win a championship post Shaq? If this year's Lakers squad is any indication, I'd say the odds are pretty good. For once, the pieces that Kobe has needed for so long are in place. This team is definitely a far cry from the Smush Parker's and Kwame Brown's of past Laker teams.

Will they go all the way??? That remains to be seen. That being said, there no better ace-in-the-hole right now than having a Kobe Bryant-like presence to take a game (or a series) over.

I'd say the odds are pretty good...
