on Paddock Portraits 2

The photos are all just SOOO gorgeous!! Credit has to go not only to the pacas themselves, but to the photographer too.
I love the close-up of Maddy and Magic looks such an alert, proud boy. Holly's little ringlets do look 'very suri' and quite fashionable....she seems a sweetie.

It's amazing that 2 such different colours as Magic's and Maddy's were produced from the same parents. I love that caramel ( milk coffee?) colour and am keeping my fingers crossed thatHis Lordship Cappucino throws one- or both- my expected crias that colour next year

Wish I had the problem that I couldn't get too far away when taking a photo, although little Anika is fascinated by my black crocs and comes up close to crane and snake her neck at them...but I still can't touch her...

It sounds just right for all kinds of stresses up here: mine for the last few weeks of the course I'm teaching and the HEAPS of assessments, the dogs with all the building works at the new neighbour's and the alpacas because they've been separated from their sheep who are now in a farmer's paddock across the road and keep looking over...

What more could I want..love music, love medidation and LOVE animals....

on The Bombay Call Centre

Could you just ask them 'to be holding the line please' while you get the gentleman owner of the business please and train your dachsies to take those calls??

Would a quiet swear word in his/her ear get him/her to howl down the phone?

It probably wouldn't make any difference what the noises at the other end were..

on Alpaca with Apple

I almost didn't open the post when I saw its title.
What a relief it WASN'T a recipe...
Luckily I know your eating (non-eating) philosophy....

Wish mine would learn from Alice.

It's a great idea, certainly for someone like me who has a few alpacas...What about all those funny things they do and stories about them? A sort of Humour category maybe?

It IS a beautiful , sunny day today, if you ignore the Forestry Tasmania burn-offs that only allow that reddish glow of the sun to filter through here in the Huon Valley

When I took my dogs for a walk in the paddock in the misty/smoky haze early this morning, Bhaalu and Maaya who HATE water, decided today was the day to try to wade into the dam which is very muddy due to the low water level....*sigh*

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

on A new home for Alana and Anika

March 26th 2008 01:38
They are all precius little individual beings! Thank you, Rosemary for entrusting them to me.
Alana immediately took over Top Paca position, cruising from one food tray to the other and exploring areas where the others normally don't hang around much.

Little Chameli and Anika (meaning very beautiful and graceful, which she certainly is) now hang around each other and play togther, which is the cutest thing to watch (one of the reasons I wanted another mum and bub to keep them company: the other reason is just plain addiction to them....).

Pema has been walking around smiling for the last few days, as if she knows some secret!
Fingers crossed...

Even the 2 boys have joined the little herd again with its new hierarchy, after they separated into a male and female group on opposite ends of the paddock for the first couple of days....

The sheep which were moved to a neighbour's grassier paddock across the road for a spell, still hang around nearest the fence to mine when the paccies are in that area and vice versa. Maybe my original little alpaca herd thinks they are Wiltshire Horn sheep? Or the sheep think they are alpacas?

It's been such fun watching them and seeing how things have changed in the constellations and how they are re-ordering and grouping themselves....

on Preg Test – Negative & Positive

Congratulations on Ginger becoming clucky again.

At least Donald had an early practice run with a role model to try to copy. How cute is that, climbing and falling all over her.... *chuckle*
It reminds me of a scene from a Peter Sellers film, 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being', where he's trying to 'be romantic' with Shirley MacLane by copying every move from a movie on the TV behind her....

It's lucky Stirling lives close by for another date with Maddie...

Good news about Alana wanting nothing to do with Cappy.

on Daizi’s Baby

Congratulations to first Mum Daizi; what a good girl to have done it all by herself. It had to be on a hot day!
As Pema's cria Chameli is a half sister to her, I think Lily is lovely as a name- I'm sure there are fawn lilies as well
It seems that Martini is producing sweet little flowers...

This could get addictive, watching for announcements about new crias. Shame there aren't any more to come at this stage....

on Madeline’s Stirling Boyfriend

Congratulations on finding a suitable suitor for Maddie....
I love the expression on his face...it says volumes...and the slightly surprised look on hers...

Luckily for me, I live close enough to be able to come and see the cria when she/he arrives, although that's almost a whole year away

on Ah, The Rain!

February 9th 2008 00:04
I know what you mean by the paddocks cracking up, Rosemary. It's awful to see little fissures opening in some areas (I'm almost expecting little fumaroles of sulphur to come spiralling up)
I'm hoping those patches will at least be converted to rolling patches by the paccies. Little Chameli discovered a piece of dug-up ground where an electric pole was put in recently and proceeded to roll in it AFTER a night of rain: no more a little golden girl...*sigh*
Katyzzz, I think Tasmania is the best place too especially here in the south. I've seen bare paddocks and dusty river beds in NSW where my uncle lives....
