Hello and Welcome, Dahlings
May 27th 2007 02:58
It's the late 'noughties' (i.e. 2000's) and the world keeps getting more progressive. While discussing oppression due to sexual orientation isn't as common as discussing oppression due to sex and colour (as the Hillary/Obama race neatly illustrates - how long will it take to see a non-heterosexual presidential candidate with a serious chance of winning?), the status quo is getting more and more non-hetero-friendly.
I hope to focus on inspiring personalities and events in the GLBTIQ (that's gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, intersex and 'queer') world, brainstorming upon the spectacle that is the non-hetero liberation process. I have a positive, optimstic attitude to my life which will translate into a hopeful look at new incidents at homophobia - in a way it's better when people start to talk about how they feel about people who they perceive as different to them, because then others can start to address their concerns and make them realise that their fears are unjustified. The state of acceptance of and tolerance towards sexual orientations which don't fit "the norm" (whatever that is) is constantly advancing, so it's no wonder that people feel so threatened by things they don't understand.
I'm here to foster positive change and help build versatile discourses around the topic of sexual orientation.
Any hateful comments will be deleted as soon as they are spotted.
Hope you enjoy the ride,
