Mind

The human mind has capabilities we can't even comprehend yet. Why is society or even a person so afraid to admit that? Maybe its because people are afraid of what they might be capable of, or maybe its because people are just afraid of the unknown.

Reality in Question

April 29th 2009 01:09
Reality Check

We as humans define reality as something we can touch, feel, and are consciously experiencing. What people fail to acknowledge is that, how do you honestly know your not unconsciously manifesting this so called reality? What if when you go to sleep, your actually waking up from a dream instead. I mean do you honestly know 100% that you’re not dreaming right now; maybe because you convince yourself that your not. Maybe you pinch yourself; maybe you call someone on the phone to convince yourself. The funny thing about that though is that even when people are so called dreaming, they feel pain. They wake afraid and even sweating at times. So how do you know you’re not waking up into a dream? You don't and that’s what scares you the most.

Extraterrestrial Life vs Religion

April 27th 2009 21:05

Why is it that religion has so much bearing over extraterrestrial life? What makes religion so much more believable? There is no more proof than there is with extraterrestrial life. There is written accounts of religion (bible, etc...) However there are also millions of sightings and written accounts of extraterrestrial life. All that either is, are written accounts of what supposedly happened. The entire bible is just someone’s written account of what happened in their eyes. I mean if you want to get technical, for all we know, the bible could just be a good work of fiction, right? You might not want to admit that, but it’s a possibility whether you want to admit it or not. The same goes with extraterrestrial life though, for all we know it could be just the human mind wanting to believe in something badly. Which brings me back to my question? What makes religion so much more believable than extraterrestrial life? Maybe because religion is more socially acceptable to believe in. I know influence has something to do with what we believe in, but are people really that ignorant to see that religion is no more fact or fiction than extraterrestrial life is? Both are just written accounts that could be fact, but both could also just be a really good story though, right?

Discovering that the illusion of consciousness stems from the illusion of reality which stems from our mind interpreting electrical impulses and sensations as reliable and viable sources of perceptiveness.

Waterboarding is Torture?

April 21st 2009 17:57

Why does everyone think that waterboarding is torture? Waterboarding is a calm way to get information if you compare the US technics vs other countries technics. The US doesn't cut fingers off, rip fingernails out or use electricity to get info; they use waterboarding. These terror suspects are so intranced in their religion that asking them to please tell us typically doesn't work. How else are we supose to get information from these terror suspects

Iran Leader's Circus

April 21st 2009 00:11
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Nut Job

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a MAJOR nut job and needs some help. Did you see his speech? Got up there and started talking about how Israel is a racist regime and accused the western countries of using aggression that he compared with 'holocaust' ?!?!?! What a minute....When was the last time he took a look in the mirror?!?!?!?!? I was watching the televised airing and people were running in with clown outfits on when he was speaking. Many people were throwing things at him also. What does that tell us? Maybe that everyone thinks he is a little coo coo!!! After he made the comment about Israel being racist amongst other things, a TON of people got up and left. They should have walked out as soon as Iran's Leader started speaking. How many chances does this guy need before we give up on an individual that is F**** in the head. When is someone going to take this guy out? I mean you can only hope for so much and that hope about him changing has long pasted. GOOD DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

American Hypocritical

August 28th 2008 13:40
American Force

The American government loves the fact that they think they own the world. When we went invaded Iraq it was supposedly justified because of the fact we had been attacked. It was terrorism the government said. We did what the hell we wanted and told the world to get behind us or get out of the way

World Destruction 101

August 12th 2008 12:01
World Destruction

We as a world, country, and as a people we consider ourselves united; that’s the false reality that we believe in today. With politics part of that false reality; the world is in shambles and we refuse to believe that. With the US and Iraq fighting, Russia and Georgia fighting, and the Middle East killing each other off, this is a sad world that we live in. Its not disease that’s killing us off it’s our own stupidity as a human race. With greed and a human nature to kill what else do we really need

Twist it how you like; the fact remains that you can't discredit one without discrediting the other due to the fact that all are accounts written by MAN. That goes for all religion not just the bible. Since they are all written by man; there is a good chance that over the years facts got widely misconstrued or changed to fit the times. The same goes for ALL religion.

Very good points...I believe you can't discredit one with out discrediting the other. ALL religion and extraterrestrial life are just written accounts of what could be...but also could be the best hoax known to mankind.

Think about this for a second. When you tell a story, do you ever just tell the facts without making your story sound a little better by expanding the actuality of what happened?

on Waterboarding is Torture?

April 23rd 2009 01:14
I agree; you have to ask yourself, when does the end justify the means? That would be a matter of opinion. Me personally; I don't believe that water-boarding is torture. Yes it may be wrong under some circumstances but to me some circumstances give us no choice. I believe that doing it hundreds and hundreds of times is overboard(no pun intended).

Yes; we as a society hold ourselves to a higher standard but people that hold themselves to a lower standard don't typically abide to our standards(developed countries).

I don't think that sleep deprivation or jail time would suffice in getting the information we would need from those individuals. Thus giving us no choice AFTER safer or more socially acceptable means don't work. Maybe those methods don't always work because the individual is strong or has been through a lot more just to prepare themselves for that type of interrogation. Remember these individuals are rugged and their minds are warped to begin with.

I agree with collecting evidence first...that is a must but we also have to get information that is crucial to saving lives of hundreds even thousands of people.

I am not saying that America should do what we do but radical people with death wishes give us no choice. Should America or any other country for that matter just give a blind eye when some radical has information that would save hundreds. Should any country just let someone go just because they don't want to tell what they are planning? I believe some people that have gone over the edge and give the rest of us no choice but to resort to those practices of information gathering. I also believe that if we KNOW that radicals are hiding vital information; we should TRY to get that information if there is a chance that we can save hundreds.

on Bush to lift OIL BAN!!!

July 15th 2008 11:39
Very much agreed, with oil running out eventually and the carbon emissions that it causes. The government had better aact soon or the very oil they seek will be the cause of our destruction as a country and as a planet. Soon it may be to late....

on American Arrogance

I was not stating that my college degree and what I do was anything special, I was stating that I was being a citizen and not just sitting around and complaining. Like a variety of people I don't feel the need to volunteer in a developing country. I feel that there are plenty of problems with poverty and disruption in our own society that has my attention, so that's where I focus most. I do volunteer with those in need and feel that we need to focus on our own problems first. How can we tell a country how to fix their poverty issues, when we have not fixed that very same problem in our own society. While the issues in developing countries are sad and need attention, we first have to help ourselves by treating the issues within our own country.

I feel that if we reach out to others beyond our capabilities, that we won't recognize and treat the problems within our own society until it is to late.

Every country has to go through their own issues and develop solutions to their problems. Yes help is needed and I don't have a problem with that. However, if we help to much and not let those countries learn from their mistakes, how can they learn not to repeat those same mistakes again?

While yes America has much, debt has a way of catching up sooner or later. When that time comes if you can't settle your debts, then it becomes a catastrophic failure and a countries very stability is at risk. That is why America is going through its credit crisis and people are loosing everything they own. The debt is just getting out of hand and it is catching up, Thus is helping fuel the weakening American dollar.

on American Arrogance

First off let me thank you all for your intelligent input on this aspect.

As for the last comment I do vote and make it a point to vote because people were to ignorant to vote in the last presidental election. So look what happened, slow progression down hill with our economy among the weakening dollar. I never said I hate america, I disliked the way the government is handling issues within our borders and outside them. I feel they could be doing more to better our economy and providing more money to schools and colleges rather than spending it in other countries.

I have a college degree and I have worked for what I have. I do my part in society by going to work and keeping companies in business by building their computer infrastructure.

Our country is no way wealthy at all we just hide it well. We have trillions in debt and thats going to catch up sometime, right? Yes our way of life is good and people still try to get here but its different now.

Some of the people that try to get here are illegally trying to sneak into our country and expect to be treated like everyone else. They didn't fight for our freedom and neither did their parents so why should I see them as deserving? Legally coming in and getting a legal job is impressive and I congrat them for that.

Our welfare system is greatly flawed, people purposely evade the law and abuse welfare. Not all people but there are plenty out there. They file false statements or purposely don't get a job because they are lazy or play their disability to its max rather than try. There needs to be better regulations on that, agreed?

Our country has its moments yes but look at how many depressions this country has had in the last 100 years, thats unreal. What does that say about how the government runs things? Isn't that something to look at?

on American Arrogance

I havent forgot about anything, America can't handle its own country let alone try and tell everyone else what they should do. All this money going toward Iraq and such to build a better economy for them. What about putting some money into our own childrens future and taking care of our own country before we worry to much about everyone else. I would say that our children and their children deserve the right to a good future rather than to a country where we choose to put money into other countries and leave our own country suffering. American government has lost site of what it means to live in America, we should enjoy our way of life and not go day to day wondering if we will have a job the next day to pay for our children etc.... I was in the army here in America until I was in a car accident and hurt my back, so I know what it means to serve our country and I have never lost site of the big picture. Yes America deserves a little arrogance but its starting to go to far. Soon someone is going to push back and we are not going to like the answer they have. America can't fight everyone, even though this is America, we are not invincible like the government would like everyone to believe. So yes American Arrogance is going to far and the government needs to take a step back and re-evaluate their way of thought.
