Have Your Say - by AVG

What would you do if your brother, sister or child committed a crime? I am not talking about little things like parking illegally or stealing a pen from a shop, I am talking about a murder.

If you found out that one of your siblings or children had killed someone would you tell the police? Would you put your own flesh and blood in jail?

It's a tricky question because you don't want your sibling or child to suffer and you don't want to be the reason why s/he is put behind bars. Then again, depending on the person's motive to kill another, you would fear your own life aswell.

Personally, i think that my decision would be based on the reason why my child or sibling would kill someone. If it was just because they didn't like the person or something just as a trivial i would probably inform the police. But then again.

What would you do? Would you put your child or sibling behind bars?

Smoke Ban

September 14th 2006 06:27
According to Wikipedia, by the 1st of July 2007, smoking in nightclubs, pubs, bars and restaurants will be band. This will definitely cause an outrage for many smokers and for people who want to have the occasional smoke when they go out.

It has frightened many nightclub owners because they fear that people will not go out as often to nightclubs if their cigarette is taken away from them. Many people feel that It will eventually become too much of a hassle to exit the building every so often in order to have a cigarette.

However, on the bright side by enacting this law it will help save thousands of lives. People don’t necessarily develop cancer through smoking but they can develop cancer through passive smoking. Statistics state that a passive smoker’s chance of having a stroke is increased by 82%. I’m not a smoker and it’s upsetting to hear that smoking passively can be just as dangerous as actual smoking.

It’s a health and safety issue that should be taken seriously and further more it will not pollute the air we breathe. Hopefull, this ban will encourage smokers in considering the option to quit. As far as I'm concerned I don’t know why anyone would want to smoke a cigarette from a warning packet that has pictures of rotting teeth and diseased limbs.

Have your say on this very controversial issue.

Abortion

September 13th 2006 12:39
The issue of abortion has been debated for a long period of time. Many people carry different opinions and feel very passionate about this topic, which can lead to many fights and arguments. However, people need to understand that every person's opinion should be respected because it can be indirectly offensive towards that person's culture, religion and upbringing.

People who don't think that abortion is right, generally uphold the notion that aborting a child is equivalent to murdering a child. For many, it is against their religion but they can also believe that every child is a gift from God that should not be destroyed.

People who don't think that abortion is wrong generally uphold the idea that arboting a baby is dependent on the mother's decision because at the end of the day it is the mother's body and life that will change forever. It can be extremely emotionally damaging for any woman despite the reasons they have, which concludes why they want to abort their baby. However, for some women there is just no way out.

Both arguments are strong arguments and this is why such a conflict is created. Personally, i do believe that having a child is a blessing and it is something that should be cherished, however depending on certain circumstances i can understand why women would opt for an abortion.
