Have your opinions changed?

Isn't it funny how our opinion changes over the years? I once was very intolerant of younger people. Now I feel that I understand them better than I ever have. They are vital, energetic, and smarter than I ever was at their age. The only thing I don't understand about some younger people, is their fear of work.
Don't get me wrong, there are millions of young people who are stand-up and work hard toward their goals. For instance I know a young man who is the father of 3 wonderful children. If he works at all, it is to make enough money to squeak by. I don't understand this way of thinking, it seems to me, he would want to take a step-up and see that his children were provided for. He has had several chances to make good money, and turned them down. He never stays in a job over a year, and his family has had to stay with his parents when they can't pay the rent. I know several young men like him and even a few young women.
I remember working until I couldn't see straight, just to have enough money so my son and I could live a mediocre life. I had no family support, as they all lived away from me. I am not saying I was a martyr, just stating the whole truth.
I would give anything to have a crumb of the energy they have, yet they would rather waste time doing nothing. I don't know maybe I am just too steeped in the idea that if you want to get anywhere in this world, you need to work toward it.
What do you think?
