Have we lived before? I believe it without a doubt.

August 31st 2010 11:28
In this piece, I am going to give you examples of past lives that I have had before this life. I am not embarrassed about revealing these to you. If you want to believe that I am a tad off my rocker, that’s your privilege. If you want to read with an open mind, you may find it interesting. If you do not believe in reincarnation, don’t bother to read any further.

You may have had experiences of your own and perhaps don’t quite understand what they meant. You may have dreamed something that felt very real and when you woke up, you questioned if it was real or a dream. I cannot tell you what your experiences mean. The experience is yours. I can write about my own.

One time, my partner and I were going on holiday to a small town. I had booked accommodation through the Internet, as a lot of us do, and we arrived expecting to be placed in a lovely suite which included a spa bath. The proprietor took us to the back of the motel to a very pokey little room which had a shower cubicle. Immediately we both felt very disturbed by this room and I could hardly stay there a minute as I felt physically sick. I of course complained because I had booked the spa suite. We returned to the office and sure enough, the notes said the booking was for a suite in the new annex, not the old part. Apologetically, the proprietor took us to our proper accommodation, confused about why she had taken us to the other room.

I found it very difficult to settle after this, even though our suite was beautiful and had the mod-cons their advertisement had offered. That night I had a dream. In it I was a girl of about 8, living in a mansion in England around 1910. I was a sickly child who suffered from lung disease. My father’s family owned holdings in Australia. It was decided that my parents would come out to the family property in the new country, taking their daughter to a warmer climate to get well. However, the child died within 6 months of arriving in Australia.

On the second day of our holiday, I found out some of the history of the motel. Sure enough, back in the early 20th century, the building had originally been a sanatorium, close to a local spa, where people were brought to take the waters and recover from various diseases, including tuberculosis. I got a whole series of insights over the next 2 days that we stayed there. The original room had been where the child had been placed to receive nursing care and various treatments in order to get well, and where she had died. Even more came information came; my partner had been my father in that life. No wonder we both felt awful returning to that room.

And as they say, there is more. I had previously had an experience of a past life where I had been a serving maid in a Victorian household. True to type, the serving girl was seduced by the young heir and abandoned when she discovered she was pregnant. Her end was pitiful as she took her own life in despair. Ten years later, having married a suitable young lady from an appropriate family, the young heir found his 8 year old daughter had a lung disease and the family agreed going to the family property in Australia would be the best thing for her...

What was the point of my being given these insights? Firstly, I think this confirmed what I had always believed, that this was not the first time I had lived in a physical body. Secondly, I now understood that we will meet Souls with whom we have interacted during our lives again and again. We will have experiences and create debts that will need to be repaid at some point. However, it does not always happen this fast.

My studies into reincarnation and karma have led me to understand that the Souls who will reincarnate into another body the fastest are those who take their own lives. You might ask why. Are these not troubled and unhappy people who would perhaps need some respite from whatever kind of misery drove them to such despair that they suicided? I once thought that too. But that is thinking from the human perspective where we are clouded by emotion and all of that mind stuff.

The picture is clearer taking the higher perspective, of all beings as Soul having a human experience in order to grow and become. Let’s suppose that when a Soul chooses a body, a family and a life to reincarnate into, some agreements are made about what will happen, how debts will be repaid, what experiences it will have, the most appropriate gender for that life and so forth. The spiritual hierarchy and Soul work it out with options and directions and opportunities laid out.

None of this detail is remembered by Soul in the new physical body, unless it awakens and begins to take up responsibility for itself. Then gradually, bits may be revealed. And if it stays sleeping and just travelling along in the current life, possibly creating more debts, it will be given another chance to try again.
However, if a life is cut short by the self who still has much to do regarding the original agreement, they are required to return as soon as an appropriate situation is available. It is one of the basic spiritual laws.

I had fallen into an emotional pit in that serving girl incarnation and left that life having not completed what had been in the original agreement. So I was promptly put back into the life of the young heir but as his daughter. Things had to be put back in order as much as they could be in the changed circumstances. But, it also meant that I was given another chance to fulfil what I had agreed to do.

Have you ever heard of a newborn baby in a family who is recognised by family members and seems in return to recognise others? What about children who have the same mannerisms as grand old Uncle Fred and seem to already be aware of family history and events?

My experience is individually mine but may not be unique in type. The hardest thing to accept about life is that we are exactly where we are because it is right for us at this time. Why did I choose to have some very unpleasant and painful heath experiences in previous lives and in this life? Soul needed it. Why would I put myself in the difficult and unhappy position of divorce, not once but twice in a lifetime? Soul needed it. From all of these experiences, I have learned and grown. And I am still growing.

Something we need to consider and remember is that we are all Soul. The path we have chosen might not suit many others but it is what we choose to do and deserve the chance to get on with it as best we can.

In his book, ‘Unlocking the Puzzle Box’, Harold Klemp wrote:
“Only when the selfishness is gone can understanding and compassion move out to encompass those around us.”
Thank you for reading. I wish you well on your journey.

Jordi, I'm interested in how you know it was your previous reincarnation you were picking up on and not just some residual negative energy?

Interesting post. There is just no scientific proof that reincarnation exists. I have a feeling that people believe what they want to believe.

Hi Ladies

Thanks for reading. I really appreciate your taking the time to make comments.

As I have said and continue to say, I write about my own experiences. Why do I trust them? Because I have an inner guide and teacher whom I trust.

I also have very strong intuition and I am aware when negative influences try to enter my consciousness. To be honest, I usually laugh anything like this off. To open oneself up to such is a bit daft. There is a vast difference between the psychic and the spiritual. But sometimes people cannot differentiate.

I do spiritual exercises daily and have done for a long time. Through this, I have gained inner strength and discernment. Anyone can do them if they want to. Many people do.

What other people think, feel or do is entirely their own business. I don't think it is possible to explain or prove any such personal experiences. I don't even think it is necessary. This is just a blog. I am delighted if it causes people to converse or look at life in a different way.

To paraphrase what Hamlet told Horatio, there are more things in Heaven and Earth than we are aware of in any philosophy. I am just enjoying the journey.

Dee, I want to make it clear that I'm not slagging you off - hope it didn't come off that way. It was an interesting read.

Just understand that the title of your post leads the reader to believe that you have some undeniable proof - "without a doubt" and yet when you read your post, it's based on your "feelings" and what you think they mean and then when questioned, your answer is: Well this is my personal experience so I don't have to prove anything because it means something to "me".

Anyhow, cheers.
Deni

This is very interesting. I'm a strong believer of gut feel and intuition too. I've had similar experiences where I feel I've been at one place before, because the connection was so strong, but it was the first time for me to visit the place. I didn't dive deeper into the situation but a flash told me I had lived in that house in the 60s. It may be weird to others, I know, but for that split-second something just clicked in me.

I had a past life reading several years ago. I don't recall much of it now, but yes, I do believe too we have walked this world before.

No worries, Deni. There are plenty of ideas and opinions of what is or isn't 'truth' in life. I welcome all views.

There is no way to prove the experiences I have had. People may understand or empathise if they have had similar experiences themselves. You can't measure or photograph a spiritual experience to provide evidence. They are not of the physical world.

The 'no doubt' meant I have no doubts. I like people who doubt, because this leads to questioning, which leads to seeking out knowledge and personal experience.

I believe strongly that life is an individual journey and as much as we are taught this and that, and may read about what other's have done, the deepest understanding comes from personal experience.

Hi Toni Girl
Thank you for the comment. I understand what you mean. You may find there are many people who have similar experiences and write them off as just 'weird'.

You might find "Destiny of Souls" by Michael Newton interesting. Another book I found very interesting was "Exploring Past Lives to Heal the Present" by Debbie Johnson.

I value your experience as real. Who knows what else you may find out in the future...

Deni says 'there is no scientific evidence for the existence of reincarnation'. Well of course there isn't, you can't measure, test or quantify things like that, it's not that sort of thing. Most people only believe what they can see, hear or touch, but it is true 'there are more things in heaven and earth' and most people are not sensitive enough to perceive them because they are new souls and not yet aware of these things. It takes many lives to learn the many lessons needed to become spiritualy enlightened enough to perceive the reality of reincarnation.

Anonymous, I don't think you understood my point for saying what I did. You've only hit the nail on the head as to why no one can be certain why the theory of "past lives" does exist. Of course, I realize that my statement was, in a way, absurd. It's all speculation based on "feeling", your post says as much.

How do you know "people are not sensitive enough to perceive them"?

How do you know "...they are new souls and not yet aware of these things?"

How do you know "...t takes many lives to learn the many lessons needed to become spiritually enlightened enough to perceive the reality of reincarnation"?

That's just like saying you can't move that mountain because you don't have enough faith.

Why should I believe you? <--- rhetorical question.

Cheers,
Deni

Hi Deni
Glad to see you are writing and questioning.
Have you ever heard of folks who meet a new baby and recognise them as 'an old soul'? I haven't had that experience as yet in my life but I know people who have. If people can recognise an old soul, could they similarly know a new soul?
I actually agree with your last comment. You don't need to believe anybody else. We all learn best from our own experience.
I have done a lot of reading and studying of a number of religions and spiritual beliefs, which were all very interesting in seeing how humanity searches to find reasons for existence.
The best thing for me was doing what are called spiritual exercises. These can be done personally, without anyone else being there or knowing what you are doing. I used Om as a chant many years ago, which is a Buddhist spiritual exercise, and that helped me through labour in childbirth. But a better one for me is HU, just like the word hue. I have been using that word a lot longer. It is an ancient word and is considered to be a love song to God.
I used to sing it in the shower as at first it sounded daft but the echo gave it a pleasant feel. As time progressed, I found this word has special qualities that uplifted and supported me. I sing it under my breath if I am in public, in the car, before I go to sleep, if I am stressed, if I am happy. HU is now a habit of my lifetime.
If you want to try it out maybe for a week or 2, I would be very interested in hearing what experience you may get from it.

Hi Jodi, it wasn't really my intention to discuss this topic further. To each their own and I have no desire to rain on anyone else's parade. I say if it works for you then more power to you. I only responded because that post was addressed to me.

As for your question regarding "old soul" well I say it depends on what that phrase means to you. When I use that phrase it usually means that the person displays uncanny wisdom for someone so young.

Now as for your chants - I do find that I feel happy when I sing "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. I get that same feeling you do. No, I'm not being cheeky, but serious, I find that that song has the same qualities. When I'm stressed, I turn it up on the radio or when I'm home relaxing. BTW, I practiced Buddhism very briefly ages ago and well, it just didn't work for me. I just didn't get anything from chanting.

Also, I don't understand what people mean when they use the term "spiritual". Seriously, I've never understood it.

Cheers,
Deni

Hi Jordi

I am a different 'Anonymous' to the previous one/s and am somewhat new to this blog thing. Just want to say that I too have had experiences over many years including past life ones and dreams that were more real than when awake, where I seemed to open my eyes and wake up in the dream and everything just came to life. In one instance I was having the experience of lying on lush cool grass, and as I woke physically I could actually feel the lush cool grass in my bed.

Once I also had a dream of being shot and mentioned the details of the dream to a friend. Amazingly, she said that around the same time she had had a very similar dream, but she was the one doing the shooting. The other details of the circumstances in our dreams were pretty much the same, but we were each seeing it from our own perspectives (her shooting someone and me being shot). That is not the only occasion that she and I shared similar (possibly past life) experiences in dreams.

Further, I also have been using the HU song (pronounced Hue and sung gently in a long drawn out breath) for over 30 years. As has been said, to each their own, and there are many ways of being uplifted by various sounds and songs. To me personally, the HU is like what I call a 'non-directed prayer' and can be used by people of any religion or no religion. Frequently people seem to ask God or whatever higher power they believe in for things (health, wealth, rain etc to name just a few). But for me the HU is like saying - you know best God, just do what is right for me, whatever that is. And when I have done this its been amazing how my life has worked out - not always as I wanted or expected, but definitely for the best overall.
