Halloween Candy for Adults
September 26th 2008 18:35
It was a dark and stormy night. Thunder rolled. Wolves howled. Somewhere a woman screamed! Probably because someone just told her that Halloween is for kids!
Adults can also have a great time on Halloween. So get your costume ready, plan a party for your friends and add some extra spookiness with treats made for grown-ups.
There is sometimes a nasty rumor that circulates that "they don't make candy cigarettes anymore." Lies! All lies. You can still get candy cigarettes from a variety of manufacturers, and they make great candy for adults at a party. They are also a really cool accessory for your costume if you want to be a Hobo, Cary Grant, or of course . . . the Marlboro Man. Some people say that candy cigarettes are BAD because they give mixed messages about smoking and kids. I say, be sure to not invite those people to your party, because they have a bit of a problem separating fantasy from reality, and they are probably not big Halloween fans anyway.
Here's another great idea for Halloween treats, or an accessory for your costume. Get a bottle of red fruity syrup, and use it to fill plastic syringes (no needle) that guests can use to put a shot of raspberry into their sodas or drinks. You could also try filling an IV bag, and use the tubing to serve syrup. These ideas go great with your costume too, if you are a nurse, a vampire, or a mad scientist.
Some green or yellow syrup would make an even more disgusting accessory, in a bag. Picture it!
There are many other "fake" candies that can be fun at your party, or to hand out as part of your costume accessories. A farmer or a scarecrow can hand out candy corn. Gummy worms from a witch or troll. A baseball player is more convincing when they have their "chew" either gum or beef jerky.
Another great halloween tradition is to make Caramel Apples. With plenty of prepackaged candy floating around, a fresh candied or caramel apple is a gourmet treat, and only slightly unhealthy.
Here is a good recipe for making them, in case you haven't tried it before.
