Season 3: Episode 1

Ah, that Grey's. Breaking my heart into pieces. I don't know what it is about that show but it makes me bawl.
Ok, so the plague thing reminded me of something they would do on ER. Kind of cheesy but it did work as a plot device. Kept George and Derek at the hospital. It also showed how sad Miranda was about the death of Denny and I would say about what has happened to Izzy.
George: His hair is looking a little better. I loved the flashback scenes to the mixer. Poor George. He's never been smooth, although now he is getting better. I liked the explanation to Derek of why he can't say he loves Callie. His love for her just isn't the same as his love for Meredith. But he's trying. I also loved that he called out Derek for never telling Meredith about it.
Addison: Ok, so Addison is a cheater. I still like her, although the scene with her outside her door in the rain made me sad for her. For Derek too, obviously. It gave both of them some humanity...although I think Addison was rather foolish for thinking that just saying sorry would make Derek forgive her. Derek had every right to hook up with Meredith. Problem is, he knew Meredith was more of a fling. But then he tried to work on his marriage when he was in constant contact with both of the women. That was never going to work. Addison and Derek are never going to work when they are working in the same hospital as Meredith. I thought Addison and the panties was hilarious. She was so meticulous with them.
Derek: Well, finally he got some balls and told Meredith that he loves her. I have to say, when he smiled at her when she turned around and after he said he loved her...oh man. Hey Patrick, call me! What gets me about this show is that people come, say something and then leave. Wouldn't Meredith wanted to talk more to Derek? Ok, I know it is a TV show and they want to keep up the suspense.
Callie: Didn't like her at all at first, even with her Broadway connections and my love of Broadway. But now? Love her. She is so funny with her understanding that she is totally pathetic for George but she does it anyway. I loved the line about her just cooking in his kitchen hoping he'll come there.
Meredith
he did good in this episode. She managed not to make everything about her this time. She was a good friend to Izzy and managed not to be like, "Oh, I know your fiance just died but guess what? McDreamy loves me." I'm not really sure that I understand why Finn is still an option for her. He's "perfect" for her, yeah, but she doesn't want that. She wants McDreamy. If she is going to be with Finn, she needs to give it some time. She's in love with Derek. No relationship starts off on a good foot when you are in love with someone else. On a side note, I liked her sweater.
Alex: Not much about him. He seems to have mentioned he had a bad childhood. He also seems to be into working with Addison. Are they going to hook up??
Christina: I LOVED the scene where she went over to Burke at the mixer. Burke was such a player and Christina was such a kiss ass. It is so funny that she was such a big fan of his and now they are together. Did you know she was Jewish? I didn't. And for her to break down and cry like she did..it seems that the most annoying things about all the characters were missing tonight.
Izzy: Ah..poor Izzy. How sad that Denny is being buried so far away. It was heartbreaking for her to say that she'll never see him again. Obviously, I understand that is how death works, but it broke my heart nevertheless.
Burke: eh. Nothing new about him.
The Chief: Ok..I get that he cheated on his wife. I get that he is never there. But really, is the best time to talk about it when the freaking PLAGUE has taking over the hospital? And then she wants his decision right away? She annoys me.
Baby storyline: a little cliche with the Catholic schoolgirl stuff. Liked the fighting between the parents.
I was also thrilled that it picked up right where it left off. I needed closure from all the stuff that happened.
As an aside, I love that Meredith told Cristina that she "lost her panties" instead of saying she had sex.
Overall, good premiere. Although, I'm not sure where they are going with the panty thing. Addison obviously knows they had sex. Is Derek saying he is going to leave Addison? If so, who cares about the panties? Is she just trying to shame them? The important issue is not that they had sex, but rather that her husband loves someone else. If Meredith picks Derek, then who cares that they had sex really? Even Finn has said he didn't care.
The only thing I wonder...can you really wear briefs with the type of dress she was wearing? Wouldn't she have a pantyline?
I give this episode an A, if for nothing else than Derek finally told Meredith he loved her. Come on, we've been through two years of elevator rides...let's get something going.

My heart broke for Izzy and I loved how Bailey was so sad for her and Denny and told Denny she was sorry.
And yeah, loved Addison and the panties. Heh.

I would love to see Addison get together with Finn. Now THAT would be interesting, but I do like Callie very much. She's very pretty and I'm not worried about her slipping through a shower drain like Meredith.
I guess I didn't understand the business of Izzy laying on the floor the entire time. Yes, I got the prom dress, but who does that? She should have been at the hospital with Denny and since she's no longer (supposedly) in the program, she really has no reason she can't be at his funeral.
I expected a little better. But I loved the part about the panties. I actually would have made photocopies of them and posted them on every board.

Seriously? Seriously.
Well, they were trying to get her off of Denny so they could take him to the morgue. Miranda had to verify the body for the funeral service guys. So if we assume that the prom took place at night and Denny died near the beginning of it..(remember Izzy hadn't even made it to the prom yet before he was dead), I'm sure they had already taken his body away. Nothing she could really do. She's not his kin. She can't sit in the morgue with his body. I think I would of plopped myself on the floor too.
Can she go to his funeral? I mean, didn't Denny ask her to marry him the same day he died? So it would seem logical that his family has no idea who Izzy is. They weren't at the hospital for him..(strange considering he was having a heart transplant). How would she even find out about where the funeral is? And if she showed up saying she was his fiance wouldn't people wonder who the hell she was?
I don't know.

George - I felt for him but at the same time wanted to smack him when he couldn't say he loved Callie. Ugh, how frustrating.
Addison - I loved the flashback of the night Derek caught her with Mark. It definitely made me feel more empathy for her but again, it makes me she that she did it first. Not that it's okay but still, the things that followed never would have happened if she hadn't cheated.
Derek - OMG. I just melted when he told Meredith how much he loved her, how he's loved her forever. The look on his face was perfect. I wanted him to stay longer though, I didn't want him to leave but of course hopefully we'll get to catch up on that this Thursday.
Callie - I HATED her at first. I thought she was so snotty and rude and assuming in all her opinions. I'm starting to get her more now though and see parts of her I really like. Especially her body. I can't help it. Seeing someone bigger than a size 6 is just exhilarating.
Meredith - She really frustrated me in this episode because she completely avoided everything where possible. Of course she is all dark and twisty and it makes sense that she would avoid but it's still frustrating. I did like that she wanted to cook and comfort and do her best to be there for Izzie.
Alex - Still can barely stand the man but oh well. I absolutely thought they were setting up an Alex/Addison story line and I think that will be interesting if they follow that through.
Christina - I totally knew she was Jewish (Christmas episode brought out that piece of info) but I liked that she actually referenced it more in this episode. I was moved to tears when she paused and could barely get out the no clean clothes. All I could think was “I’d sit shiva”. And oh the vulnerability they finally showed in her at the end. I thought that was a perfect way to show how much she cares for Burke in a very personal way.
Izzie - Every time they showed her I wanted to bawl. I’ve never lost a mate (thank God) but I did lose my father when I was only 22-years-old. I remember just wanting to sit on the couch, not moving, not eating, not doing anything. I could completely relate to wanting to lie on the floor and never move again. It was perfect for the situation and how much she loved Denny. I can understand why she was taken home – they had to take care of the body and technically she was not next of kin. That and she was unfamiliar with the family and I can imagine it would be horrible to show up at a funeral like that.
Burke - I thought the mixer flashback was great and served to remind us just how much Burke and Christina have changed. Also, I wanted to see him more but the impact of his one scene with Christina was perfect.
The Chief - Holy crap. I actually LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his wife for standing up to him finally but she definitely didn’t have good timing here. Of course that’s the point. With this job there is never good timing, never enough time, and she’s done dealing with that. I am interested to see if he’s able to keep her or he lets her go.
A couple of comments – I think they messed up with the panties. At one point they looked like a bikini but when they were hanging on the bulletin board they looked much more like a thong. Just my thought there but that was the impression I got.
Plague/baby in the trash storylines – cheesy. ER cheesy and I love ER. Oh well, at least they don’t hit on the cheesy too terribly often.
Having said all that - I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THURSDAY!
