Julian Assange and Global Warming: Climategate Part 2?
December 16th 2010 01:01
Several years ago, documents were released that accused scientists at prominent universities throughout the world as forging data to continue getting funding. This was referred to as "Climategate." Even though it gained some international attention, not many truly took notice. Why? Because too much money was changing hands. Now we face a similar circumstance with Julian Assange and the release of over 3000 Wiki-leaks documents.
On December 4, 2010, the London-based newspaper "The Guardian," published several documents regarding the falsification of global-warming data.
Though no one can deny that the Earth is getting progressively warmer, falsifying data does nothing to help circumstances, however, it provides ammunition to those who believe that it is all a hoax. When information, such as that published by "The Guardian," is brought into the public arena, it can plant the seed of doubt in even the most well intentioned and staunch believer.
It is said that sometimes ignorance is bliss. However true the statement may be, knowledge is power. Regardless of what we wish as a people, human beings are still beholden to the sin of greed, and those who would attempt to defraud, not simply one government, but the world as a whole should be subject to prosecution in international court. Those scientists who would perform such a travesty should be subject to such severe penalties that no other would follow in their footsteps.
The general media have not picked up on this story, possibly at the behest of governments that would be embarassed at being used. Hopefully, more documents will be released that will shed more light on this situation.
