Great Sporting performances by Victorians
May 26th 2008 13:48
As we all know Melbourne is the sporting capital of the world and Victoria is by far Australia's greatest sporting state. This blog will highlight, comment on and celebrate the great sporting performance by Victorians all over the world.
I just need a bit of patience from the readers ,I am only one man but if I get behind post some suggestions of great sporting performances by Victorians and I will happily look them up and get on to them ASAP.
To be a Victorian is an honour that is not just bestowed on anybody to be a real Victorian you must have been born in Victoria and reached stardom from Victoria, pure and simple. To give a good idea of who is not a Victorian, I give you the prime example of the Melbourne Storm. They have been in the NRL for 10 years yet have never given a Victorian kid a go in their first team. They are not Victorians and no amount of premiershipd will ever make them Victorian.
This blog is biased to Victorians.....and unshamedly so. Stand by for the first Victorian celebration

I had a Victorian you could highlight, but unfortunately he had a hiccup at the French Open last night.
Chris Guccione is currently ranked 70 in the world & looks set to be a Davis Cup regular over the coming years. He has some big scalps to his name already (not easy to get to 70 in the world).
My eldest son played him in his first ever tennis tournament at Boorondara TC at Bulleen. 11 years & under. Chris was very tall even then (I thought he was in the wrong age group).
Maybe a better story for him at Wimbledon. But someone (a Victorian) to look out for.
