Lesson plan 5
Lesson Date: 14th to 18th September Name of the teacher: Andrew
Grade: one Class: 2, 3 & 4
Words: “colour(s)”, “red”, “green”, “blue”, “yellow”, “orange”, “stop”, “go”, “be careful”, “stand up!”, “sit down”, “come”, “to”, “front”, “back”, “your”, “seat”
Sentences: “What colour is it?”, “It is…”, “Stand up!”, “Come to front”, “Go back to your seat”, “Sit down”
Games or Songs:
Song: -To start the lesson and the week with “If you are happy and you know it….”
Game 1: Colours game- I stand in the centre of the room, and have all the students touch my arm while they are held out. I call out a colour. Then the kids must run and touch something that is that colour. If they are not touching something that colour they get tickled.
Game 2: Colour relay race- I to write the colours of red/green/blue/ yellow/ & orange in that colour. Then I will cut the letters up individually, and put them into an envelope. I will then divide the team up into teams. Give one team one envelope the other team another envelope, and have a race to see which team is the fastest to create the word.
Activity: Hand out- Handing out a handout of ‘signs’ and ‘symbols’. I will ask the student what you would do when you see a full faced hand open and also do the screaming holt of a car stopping. This will lead to the question “what colour is stop?” then “colour it?”. I will then do the sound of a car accelerating which will lead to the question “what colour is go?” then “colour it?” and finally I will look side ways a couple times, a sign of being careful and then ask the student “what colour is be careful? Then “colour it?”
