Grade: one Class: 2, 3 & 4
Words: “marker”, “paper”, “pen”, “pencil”, “table”, “chair”, “backpack”, “eraser”, “desk”, “crayon”, “book”, “blue”, “green”, “red”, “yellow”, “orange”, ”pink”, ”brown”, “black”, “grey”, “purple”, “sticks”, “shut the door”, “buckle my shoe”, “lay them straight”
Sentences: “What is this (marker/ paper/ pen/ pencil/table/ eraser etc)?”, “It is a …(marker/ piece of paper/ pen/ pencil/ table etc)”, “what colour is this (using same objects)?”, “It is (blue, red, green, orange etc?)
Games or Songs:
Song 1- “colours” using the audio equipment that I have downloaded.
Song 2- “pretty colours are all around me” write on blackboard.
Activity 1- dictation: I will ask the students to get a piece of paper or give them some and their markers or pencils. Then I will dictate some questions to them for them to draw ie “draw 1 brown table?”, “draw 2 black chairs?”, “draw 3 blue backpacks?”, “draw 1 red pencil, 1 green pen?” and “draw 5 closed books, 1 green, 2 red, 1 black, 1 blue?”
Song/ nursery rhyme- ‘one, two buckle my shoe’, also using props to explain.
Game 2- counting game for young kids: I will get the kids to sit in a circle including myself. I will then stand up. I will put my hand on the head of the kid on my right and say “one”, I will move to the second kid and do the same, instead say “two”, when I get to the third student, that kid has to stand up and chase me around the circle. If I sit down before that kid, they are it.
