OMG OMG OMG I'M CONFUSED ALREADY

December 8th 2007 14:25
I have just short of 11 months so organise my wedding. In that time I have to contend with Christmas, multiple birthdays, easter, summer and a whole lot of normal days.

So far I've managed to ...

Decide on a date:
I want 08 November 2008, which we as of today still haven't got round to booking at the local registry office.
We are marrying there due to a few factors. Firstly to keep costs down, we have a budget of around £750. Which is low considering the average wedding costs £15000 but I know I can do it. Secondly, being pagan it is hard to find a church that will marry us. But its all water under the bridge so they say

Decide on a budget::
Everyone wants a million pound white wedding... well everyone except me.

I don't have a million pounds for starters, then again how many normal people do. I have around 21p in bank and savings of about £3!!! Not a good start, so I'd better get saving fast.
I've decided I can do the wedding for under £1000 at a push so I have said the budget is £750 leaving around £250 for extras.
I also don't like white, so a white wedding is going to be pointless.
I refuse to wear a white dress, I'd prefer black. But that ain't gonna happen, or it'll be a guestless wedding. So I'm thinking bergundy.

And thats around about it.

What was it like to be a 40's child?

September 30th 2007 15:44
Remember when......?

There were few TV's, and no Computer games or the internet. Families sat around the radio, which still was a very new invention, and listened to latest news stories for entertainment.

World war two was playing out, and children had to wear identity labels and gas masks at all times. They also had to follow the rules of the blackout and not ever allow light to show outside.

The popular dance of the time was the jitterbug.

Betty Boop was rising in popularity, being the first female animated star.

The Kilroy cartoon began to appear wherever American soldiers had been.

The refridgerator was invented, but many families couldn't afford one and so continued to salt meat and hang it from hooks in the ceiling.

The Slinky toy was developed as was seventeen magazine.

With many men and women busy with the war effort, teenagers found it easy to find a job and for the first time, had money of their own to spend.

More negatively, with parents away there was also another development... the juvenile delinquent.

The forties was a hayday for movies, as the war office declared films good for morale.
One of the most famous films of the time, still as popular today, is Casablanca.

By the end of the war, there were still only around 5000 black and white tv sets.

Growing up post series...

September 30th 2007 15:24
We were all kids once upon a time, and we all have memories of that era in our lives. So here at parentsprecinct we want to celebrate everyones childhoods by making a little post for each of the decades our readers may remember.

We are going to begin by going way back to the 1940's for all of the Grandparents and indeed Great Grandparents who drop by, and then working our way through the years from the 50's up until the 90's

Anyone who works in retail, either as a sales assistant or in a supervisory or management role, is responsible for increasing customer satisfaction and company profits. They are also responsible for customer service and ensuring that each new customer becomes a returning customer.

A key skill for someone in retail is upselling, which is the ability to sell a better suited product to each customer and also cross or link selling, which is encouraging the purchase of a complimenting product that fits the product purchased and the customers needs

games to play with a one year old

September 16th 2007 20:54
Playing is a big part of a young childs education. A one year old learns everything through the games that they play, therefore it is very important that you take an hour or so each day and make it play time for you and baby.

To help you do this I thought I would give you a few ideas from the games that I play with my little girl

Is Gerard Way married to Lyn-Z?

September 16th 2007 19:52
I've just read that Gerard Way of MCR apparantly married someone called Lyn-Z in a ceremony backstage after a show. The ceremony happened on 3rd September.

I have scoured the net and seen a few pictures but for some reason none of them confirm that they are in fact married

Teenager, let me understand you!

September 7th 2007 20:11
Teenagers! Even if we don't have them, we were all one at some time or other. Yet still, all adults have trouble understanding them, especially at the times when the teen is in another of their "moods" and storms to their room without a word.

It's the way fashions and fads change over the years that renders us unable to empathise with teenagers of today

Religion. . . What to tell a child?

September 6th 2007 14:46
I am wiccan. I am proud to say that as it is part of me and I don't think it's something to hide from.
I have had strong wiccan beliefs ever since I found my path and I never had to come out of the broom closet if I am honest.

Well done to those who have achieved something themselves. No matter how small. Each tiny thing is the next step to something large.

For me it has got to be

the one and only by Chesney Hawkes.

Kinda says all it can about being individual,

No matter what you lose, you always have yourself
