Googles second venture into Social Networks

July 9th 2011 14:52
Social Networking is becoming all the rage, they are popping up every where and everyone is always searching out for somewhere to share their day to day stuff and connect to new people. Well now Google has begun, in limited release to people who are lucky to get into it's trial, and get an invite to join.

At the moment Google is in basic operation, some have said it's a more basic version of Facebook. Google's other venture into social networking has landed us Google Buzz, a Twitter clone that seems to be not that popular with Twitterizens, and Tweeter fans.

Some are believing this venture will be a failure as well, as they are trying to clone a popular website. But when you look back at when Facebook started, it took what MySpace was and made it more interesting. When the tide started to change and facebook was taking over MySpade went the same way as Facebook to add games, and such.

Now Google isn't the only email client to have a social networking feel to it, Yahoo has their connections to social media, as has Windows Live/Hotmail. Blogging too has started to become a new social media experience with Tumblr. Oh and let's not forget the connection you can have with asking questions on FormSprings.

The list of social media outlets are immense, and will continue to grow gradually, the question remains, will this be a hit, or a miss with the social media elite?

With the growing disgruntlement with Facebook, and their changes, their unneeded and often more annoying changes. Google has a chance to pick up on a fanbase of Facebookers that are annoyed, right now it seems the basic usage of Tumblr has some flocking there, but Facebook has done one thing right.

Facebook has probably the best privacy, and security you can restrict what you share even to your own friends, so that if there is someone you don't want to see a status, or a photo, or even your wall on there you can do that. It's a perfect way to protect yourself from a lot of the strange people out there and keep people you are complaining about on your list in the dark a bit longer.

This is the closest you will ever get to privacy on the internet, but what is there to say about Google ? Well not much yet, it's in it's early days and like Gmail when it started, you have to wait until it's rolled out or a friend gets you in.
