Going to the doctor
February 18th 2010 16:11
Many people cannot get in to see their primary care doctor.
Why?
Because everyone is trying to get into see their doctor.
The problem is that most of these people do not need to see their doctor. If America as a whole would improve their health care knowledge – we would not have a health care provider shortage.
I am not trying to blame people, they don’t know. But, now you do know. I challenge you to improve your health care knowledge – this will reduce the number of times you need to go to the doctor.
Here are a few key facts to get you started.
• Don’t go to the doctor and tell him/her you are here because you need an antibiotic for your sinus infection. If you say this to your doctor, many times you will get one even if you do not need it. Doctor’s are often in a hurry and want to please their patients.
• Almost every case of bronchitis is caused by a virus and does not require treatment with an antibiotic. Don’t rush to the doctor every time a cold settles in the chest and demand an antibiotic.
• Most ear infections will go away on their own. Don’t rush to the doctor every time your child complains of a minor ear ache and say “He has another infection and he needs an antibiotic.”
I realize that you probably did not go to medical school and are not sure when you need to go to the doctor and when you don’t, but stay tuned – more information will be provided in this blog to help reduce your reliance on your doctor.
